Technical Specifications Parameter Value Nominal System Voltage 12/24VDC (Auto Recognition) Battery Voltage Range 6-36V Rated Battery Current 10A Over Voltage Disconnect Voltage 16V/32V Charging Limit Voltage 14.6V/29.2V Equalize Charging Voltage 14.6V/29.2V Float Charging Voltage 13.8V/27.2V Operating Temperature -35°C to +55°C Overall Dimensions (L x W x H) 135 x 70 x 35mm Terminal Size 6mm² Net Weight 155g Charging & Battery Modes The Solar Technology 10A Dual Battery Charge Controller employs a multi-stage charging process to ensure optimal battery health and performance. This includes: Equalize Charging: A controlled overcharge to prevent sulfation and equalise cell voltages, set at 14.6V/29.2V. Boost Charging: Rapidly brings the battery to its full charge level. Float Charging: Maintains the battery at a full state of charge by providing a small, constant voltage of 13.8V/27.2V. Dual Battery Priority: The controller prioritises charging for the battery connected to 'Battery 1' terminals until it reaches approximately 70% charge, then distributes power equally to both batteries until fully charged. Typical Applications Application Description Off-Grid Solar Systems Manages power from solar panels to battery banks in remote cabins, sheds, or standalone setups. Marine & Boat Systems Ideal for charging both engine and leisure batteries simultaneously on boats and yachts. Caravans & Motorhomes Perfect for managing leisure and vehicle batteries in mobile recreational vehicles. Small Solar Installations Suitable for systems with solar panels up to 150W, providing reliable charge regulation. Built-In Protection Functions The Solar Technology 10A Dual Battery Charge Controller incorporates multiple electronic safeguards to protect your solar system and batteries. These include: Reverse current protection • Overload protection • Open circuit protection • Lightning surge protection • Deep discharge protection • Charge current protection up to 10A. Common Questions What type of solar panels is this controller suitable for? This 10A charge controller is recommended for use with solar panels up to and including 150W. For optimal performance, ensure your panel's maximum power output (Pmax) does not exceed this rating. How does the dual battery charging function work? The controller prioritises the battery connected to the 'Battery 1' terminals, charging it to approximately 70% capacity. Once this level is reached, it then distributes power equally to both batteries until both are fully charged. This ensures your primary battery receives sufficient charge first. Is this controller compatible with both 12V and 24V systems? Yes, the Solar Technology 10A Dual Battery Charge Controller features automatic 12V/24V DC system voltage recognition, allowing it to adapt seamlessly to either system without manual configuration. What is PWM charging? PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) charging is a method where the charge controller rapidly switches the solar panel connection to the battery on and off. This technique allows the battery to be charged more efficiently, reduces battery stress, and helps to desulfate the battery, thereby extending its overall lifespan. Installation Notes Always connect the battery to the charge controller first, then the solar panel. Disconnect in the reverse order. Ensure correct polarity for all connections to prevent damage to the controller and system components. Mount the controller in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and heat sources, to ensure optimal operating temperature. Use appropriate cable sizes for your system's current and distance to minimise voltage drop and ensure efficient power transfer. The terminal size for this controller is 6mm². Refer to the included instruction sheet for detailed wiring diagrams and safety guidelines. Before You Buy System Voltage: Confirm your solar system operates at either 12V or 24V DC. This controller automatically adapts to both. Panel Wattage: Verify your total solar panel wattage does not exceed 150W for a 10A controller. Battery Type: This PWM controller is generally suitable for lead-acid battery types (sealed, gel, flooded). Current Rating: Ensure the 10A rated current capacity meets your system's requirements. Environmental Conditions: Check the operating temperature range (-35°C to +55°C) is suitable for your intended installation environment. All specifications are based on manufacturer data and verified information. Always confirm compatibility with your specific solar components before purchase. This product includes a two-year warranty.
