Club: Netherlands NT Year: 2006 Brand: Nike Jersey Type: Home Size: L Player Name: Mark van Bommel 18 Chest length (cm): 56Shirt length (cm): 69 History: Worn during the 2006 FIFA World Cup, Netherlands went into the tournament as one of the dark horse favorites to go all the way as they were FIFA pre-tournament ranking number 3 at the time. With a group of players coming into their peak footballing career complemented by seasoned veterans from the mid-late 90s fame led by tough tackling captain Mark van Bommel in midfield, who only made his first major tournament for Netherlands at 29 in 2006. This was after the Oranje failed to qualify for the 2002 edition & an injury meant he was unavailable for 2004 Euros. At the 2006 World Cup, Van Bommel played in three games, including the infamous "Battle of Nuremberg" as both Netherlands & Portugal played out a one goal game littered with yellow & red cards totalling 16 yellows & 4 reds. A World Cup record till this day and the controvesy from the debacle. That tie only deepened the rivalry between the two nations as international meetings since added an extra spice to the contest.
