Its Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technology ensures that the solar panels operate at their peak efficiency, delivering more power to your battery compared to traditional PWM controllers. The controller continuously monitors the battery's state of charge to apply the most suitable charging parameters, safeguarding your battery and extending its lifespan. Feature Benefit MPPT Technology Maximises power harvest from solar panels, especially in varying light conditions. Automatic Charging Automatically adjusts charging parameters based on battery state for optimal health. Waterproof Design Ensures reliable operation in outdoor environments, even in wet conditions. Typical Applications This versatile 80W folding solar kit is suitable for a wide range of 12V battery charging applications, providing reliable off-grid power wherever you need it. Application Description Motorhomes & Caravans Maintain leisure batteries for lighting, appliances, and charging devices during travels. Campervans & Vans Keep auxiliary batteries topped up for extended off-grid camping and adventures. Boats & Yachts Charge marine batteries for navigation, communication, and onboard electronics. Off-Grid Systems Provide power for remote cabins, sheds, or temporary setups requiring 12V power. Built-In Protection Functions The integrated 10A MPPT solar charge controller provides essential safety features to protect your battery and system integrity. These include: Overcharging Protection • Reverse Current Protection • Reverse Polarity Protection • Overheating Protection • Overload Protection. These safeguards ensure reliable and safe operation of your solar charging system. Common Questions What type of batteries can this kit charge? This kit is specifically designed for charging 12V lead-acid batteries. Always verify your battery type and voltage before connecting. Is the kit suitable for outdoor use in all weather? Yes, the kit is designed to be 100% waterproof, including the solar charge controller, making it suitable for various outdoor conditions. How do I position the solar panels for best performance? The kit includes an adjustable aluminium folding stand, allowing you to angle the panels directly towards the sun to maximise their power output throughout the day. What is the benefit of an MPPT controller over a PWM controller? An MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) controller can extract significantly more power from your solar panels, especially in cooler temperatures or when light conditions are not ideal, compared to a PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) controller. Installation Notes Connect the kit directly to your 12V battery using the supplied crocodile clips. Ensure the solar panels are placed in a well-lit area, free from shade, for optimal performance. Adjust the folding stand to angle the panels towards the sun for maximum power generation. Refer to the included installation manual for detailed connection and operation instructions. For advanced users, a separate detailed manual for the solar controller may be available from the manufacturer. Before You Buy Verify your battery system is 12V and compatible with lead-acid battery charging. Consider your power requirements to ensure 80W is sufficient for your intended application. Check the folded dimensions (56.5 x 51 x 5 cm) to ensure it fits your storage space. No additional wiring or components are required for basic battery charging with this kit. This kit is designed for portability and temporary setups; for permanent installations, consider fixed solar panels. Always verify product specifications and compatibility with your existing system before purchase. This product is covered by a 1-year workmanship warranty on the solar panel (provided by Photonic Universe) and a separate warranty for the solar charge controller (provided by its manufacturer). Solar cells are guaranteed to produce at least 90% of nominal power in 10 years and 80% in 25 years from purchase, as provided by the solar cell manufacturer.
