It continuously monitors and calculates key parameters to give you a complete picture of your battery's health and performance: State of Charge (SOC): Accurately calculated based on ampere-hours consumed and battery efficiency. Time-to-Go: Estimates the remaining time until the battery is depleted at the current discharge rate. Historical Data: Tracks deepest discharge, average discharge, number of cycles, over-voltage, and under-voltage alarms. Programmable Relay: A dry contact, voltage-free relay can be configured to trigger external devices, such as a generator, based on low battery voltage or SOC. VE.Direct Port: Allows for data communication with other Victron devices, including GX devices for remote monitoring via the VRM portal, or via an optional Bluetooth Smart dongle for the VictronConnect app. Typical Applications Application Description Off-Grid Solar Systems Provides crucial insights into battery health and charge levels for remote power systems. Marine & RV Installations Ensures reliable power management for leisure vehicles and boats, preventing unexpected power loss. Backup Power Systems Monitors the readiness of standby batteries for critical loads. Industrial DC Systems Suitable for various industrial applications requiring precise DC battery monitoring. Built-In Protection Functions The Victron BMV-700 incorporates essential features to help protect your battery bank and connected systems. These include a programmable visual and audible alarm system for conditions such as low state of charge, low voltage, and high voltage. Additionally, its programmable relay can be configured to automatically disconnect non-critical loads or activate a generator, preventing deep discharge or overcharge scenarios. Common Questions What is included with the Victron BMV-700? The BMV-700 typically includes the display head unit, a 500A/50mV current shunt with a quick-connect PCB, a 10-meter RJ12 cable, and a fused battery cable (2m). It also comes with a separate front bezel for either a square or round display appearance. Can I monitor my BMV-700 remotely? Yes, remote monitoring is possible. You can connect the BMV-700 to a Victron GX device (e.g., Cerbo GX) via a VE.Direct cable for local and remote monitoring via the Victron Remote Management (VRM) portal. Alternatively, an optional VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle allows monitoring via the VictronConnect app on your smartphone or tablet. Is the BMV-700 compatible with Lithium-ion batteries? Yes, the BMV-700 is compatible with various battery types, including Lithium-ion (LiFePO4) batteries. It offers configurable settings such as battery capacity, charged voltage, Peukert exponent, and charge efficiency factor to ensure accurate monitoring for different chemistries. What is the difference between the BMV-700 and BMV-702? The BMV-700 is designed for single-bank battery monitoring. The BMV-702 adds a programmable auxiliary input, allowing it to monitor a second battery's voltage, temperature, or midpoint voltage, making it suitable for more complex multi-battery systems. Installation Notes The BMV-700 is designed for straightforward installation. All electrical connections are made to the quick-connect PCB on the current shunt. The shunt should be mounted in a dry location as it has an IP21 rating (not waterproof). The head unit can be flush-mounted into a panel or wall-mounted using an optional enclosure. Ensure all battery safety warnings are observed, including disconnecting the negative pole of the battery before installation. Refer to the official Victron Energy BMV-700 manual for detailed installation instructions and safety guidelines. Before You Buy System Voltage: Verify your battery bank's voltage falls within the 6.5-95 VDC operating range of the BMV-700. Battery Bank Configuration: The BMV-700 is ideal for single battery banks. If you require monitoring for multiple banks or additional inputs (e.g., temperature, midpoint voltage), consider the BMV-702 or other Victron models. Shunt Sizing: The included shunt is 500A/50mV. Ensure this is appropriate for your maximum expected current draw. The BMV-700 supports shunt selection up to 10,000 Amps if an alternative shunt is used. Connectivity Needs: If Bluetooth connectivity for the VictronConnect app is desired, an optional VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle is required (sold separately). Always verify product specifications and compatibility with your specific system requirements before purchase. Manufacturer warranty details are subject to Victron Energy's terms and conditions.
