MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) is an electronic tracking system that finds the optimal voltage and current at which a solar panel can produce maximum power. This allows the charge controller to extract significantly more power from the solar array compared to traditional PWM controllers, especially in varying weather conditions. How do I monitor the controller with Bluetooth? The Victron SmartSolar MPPT 100/30 has built-in Bluetooth. Simply download the free VictronConnect app to your smartphone or tablet, pair with the controller, and you can view live data, historical performance, and adjust settings remotely. No additional hardware is required for Bluetooth monitoring. What battery types are compatible? This controller is compatible with a wide range of 12V and 24V battery types, including AGM, Gel, Flooded Lead Acid, Tubular plate, and Lithium-ion batteries. The charging algorithm can be customised via the VictronConnect app to match your specific battery requirements. Can I connect a remote display? Yes, an optional MPPT Control panel (sold separately) can be connected to the controller via the VE.Direct port. This provides a dedicated LCD display for monitoring charging parameters and performance data, as well as offering additional programming functions. Installation Notes Ensure correct polarity when connecting solar panels and batteries to prevent damage. Mount the controller in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Use appropriate cable gauges for all connections to minimise voltage drop and ensure safety. Refer to the detailed user manual for specific wiring diagrams and installation instructions. Consider professional installation for complex systems or if unsure about electrical wiring. Before You Buy Verify your solar panel array's open circuit voltage (Voc) does not exceed 100V. Confirm your battery bank voltage (12V or 24V) matches the controller's auto-detection range. Calculate your total solar panel power to ensure it stays within the controller's maximum limits (440W for 12V, 880W for 24V). Check the physical dimensions to ensure suitable mounting space is available. Consider any additional accessories, such as a VE.Direct USB cable for PC connection or a remote display, if required. Always verify product specifications and compatibility with your existing system components before purchase. This product is covered by a 5-year warranty.
