Equalize-Charge Follows boost, maintaining boost voltage while current slowly decreases. Duration is pre-selectable (4, 8, or 12 hours). Float-Charge Final stage where charge voltage drops to float voltage, maintaining the battery without overcharging. Designed for continuous connection. Main Output Delivers the full 50A charge current to your primary 24V battery bank. Starter Battery Output A secondary, isolated output providing a 4A trickle charge, ideal for maintaining a 24V engine starter battery. Typical Applications Application Description Marine Vessels Reliable charging for house and starter batteries on boats, yachts, and other marine craft. Off-Grid & Remote Systems Ensures consistent power for standalone solar installations and remote power setups. RV & Campervans Maintains leisure and engine batteries during travel and stationary periods. Industrial & Commercial Suitable for backup power systems, telecommunications, and other 24V industrial applications. DC Power Supply Can function as a stable DC power source in systems without batteries. Built-In Protection Functions The Victron Skylla-TG 24/50 (1+1) charger incorporates several protective measures for safe and reliable operation. These include output short circuit protection, battery voltage too high detection, and protection against excessively high temperatures. While it features battery reverse polarity detection, careful connection is always advised as per manufacturer guidelines. Common Questions What does the "(1+1)" in the model name signify? The "(1+1)" indicates that the charger has two isolated outputs. One is the full-rated 50A output for your main 24V battery bank, and the other is a 4A trickle charge output specifically designed for maintaining a 24V starter battery. Can this charger be left connected to the battery indefinitely? Yes, the Victron Skylla-TG 24/50 (1+1) is designed for continuous connection. Its IUoUo three-stage charging characteristic, particularly the float-charge mode, prevents overcharging and gas formation, keeping your battery in optimal condition during long-term storage. Is the Skylla-TG 24/50 suitable for all battery types? This charger is specifically designed for lead-acid batteries, including flooded, Gel, AGM, and spiral types. It is not recommended for charging lithium batteries, as this may lead to incorrect charging behaviour and potential damage. Can this unit function as a standalone power supply? Yes, thanks to its perfectly stabilised output voltage, the Skylla-TG 24/50 (1+1) can be used as a reliable DC power supply in applications where batteries or large buffer capacitors are not present. Installation Notes Professional installation by a qualified technician is highly recommended to ensure safety and optimal performance. Ensure adequate ventilation around the charger to prevent overheating, especially during prolonged high-current charging. Use appropriately sized and short battery cables to minimise voltage losses and ensure efficient charging. Always disconnect the mains supply before making or breaking any connections to the battery. Refer to the official Victron Energy user manual for detailed installation instructions and wiring diagrams. Before You Buy Confirm your battery system voltage is 24V and that your battery capacity falls within the recommended 150-500 Ah range. Verify compatibility with your specific battery chemistry (lead-acid types only; not suitable for lithium batteries). Measure the available installation space to ensure the charger fits comfortably with sufficient clearance for ventilation. Consider your primary power source (AC or DC) and ensure it falls within the charger's wide input voltage specifications. If integrating into a complex system, consult with a solar or marine electrical specialist for system design and compatibility. All specifications are based on manufacturer data and verified information. Please consult the official Victron Energy documentation for the most current details and specific application guidance.
