The IP56 rating indicates that the power inlet is protected against dust ingress sufficient to prevent interference with the equipment's operation, and against strong jets of water from any direction. Why is 316 stainless steel used? 316 stainless steel is a marine-grade alloy known for its superior corrosion resistance, particularly in saltwater and harsh outdoor environments, ensuring long-term durability and appearance. Is this inlet compatible with standard UK/EU shore power cables? Yes, this Victron Power Inlet complies with the IEC 60309 (2P+E) standard, which is widely used for shore power connections across the UK and Europe. What is the recommended installation method? The inlet is designed for flush or panel mounting. It is recommended to consult a qualified electrician for installation to ensure compliance with local electrical regulations and safety standards. Installation Notes Professional installation by a qualified electrician is highly recommended to ensure safety and compliance with all relevant electrical standards. Ensure the mounting surface is flat, stable, and provides adequate space for the inlet and cable connections. Use appropriate cable glands and sealing compounds to maintain the IP56 waterproof rating at all cable entry points. Verify that the wiring is correctly terminated and secured to prevent loose connections or short circuits. Always disconnect shore power before attempting any installation or maintenance. Before You Buy Confirm the 32A current rating and 250V AC voltage are suitable for your specific electrical system requirements. Check the physical dimensions and mounting requirements to ensure proper fitment in your intended location. Verify compatibility with your existing or planned shore power cables and plugs (IEC 60309, 2P+E type). Consider any additional accessories, such as a rear protection boot for electrical terminals, if not already included or required by your setup. Consult local electrical codes and marine regulations if installing on a vessel. Always verify product specifications and compatibility with your system before purchase and installation. E&OE.
