Its ECO mode is designed to minimise standby consumption, switching the inverter to standby when the load drops below a preset value (minimum 15W). It then periodically checks for load (default: every 2.5 seconds) and reactivates if the load exceeds the set level. This intelligent feature helps conserve battery energy, especially in low-power scenarios. Through the VE.Direct communication port, users can access a range of configurable settings. These include precise adjustments for low battery voltage alarm, trip, and reset levels, as well as dynamic cut-off levels that respond to load changes. Output voltage (210-245V) and frequency (50Hz or 60Hz) can also be configured to match specific appliance requirements. Real-time monitoring of input/output voltage, load percentage, and alarms is available via the VictronConnect app when connected with an optional VE.Direct to USB cable or Bluetooth Smart dongle. The inverter's high start-up power capability ensures it can handle demanding loads that require a significant power surge upon activation, such as certain power tools or LED lighting systems. Typical Applications Application Description Off-Grid Systems Provides reliable 230V AC power for cabins, sheds, and small remote installations. Mobile & Automotive Powers appliances in campervans, motorhomes, caravans, boats, and commercial vehicles. Backup Power Ensures essential appliances remain operational during mains power outages. Sensitive Electronics Safely runs laptops, chargers, audio equipment, and other devices requiring pure sine wave power. Built-In Protection Functions The Victron Phoenix Inverter 12/800 is engineered with multiple protection features to ensure safe and reliable operation. These include: Output Short Circuit Protection • Overload Protection • Overheating Protection (due to overload or high ambient temperature) • Battery Voltage Low/High Protection. The robust full bridge plus toroidal transformer topology further enhances its durability and resilience. Common Questions What does 'pure sine wave' mean? A pure sine wave inverter produces AC power that is identical to or even better than mains electricity. This makes it safe and suitable for all electronic devices, especially sensitive equipment like laptops, medical devices, and power tools, preventing potential damage or malfunction. How can I monitor and configure the inverter? The inverter features a VE.Direct communication port. To monitor and configure settings, you will need an optional VE.Direct to USB interface cable for a computer, or a VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle for Apple/Android smartphones and tablets. These accessories allow access to the VictronConnect app for detailed control. What is the purpose of ECO mode? ECO mode is a power-saving feature that puts the inverter into standby when the AC load drops below a user-defined level (e.g., 15W). It periodically "wakes up" to check for a higher load and will remain on if detected. This significantly reduces idle power consumption and extends battery runtime. What kind of loads can this 800VA inverter handle? With a continuous output of 800VA (650W) and a peak power of 1500W, this inverter can power a variety of small to medium domestic appliances. This includes laptops, phone chargers, LED lighting, small kitchen appliances (like blenders), and some power tools, provided their combined wattage does not exceed the continuous rating for prolonged periods. Installation Notes Professional Installation Recommended: For safety and optimal performance, installation should be carried out by a qualified professional familiar with DC and AC electrical systems. Ventilation: Ensure the inverter is installed in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating, as it features fan-assisted cooling. Cable Sizing: Use appropriate DC cable sizing for the input connections to minimise voltage drop and ensure efficient power transfer. The inverter uses screw terminals for DC connection. Mounting: Mount the inverter securely on a stable, non-combustible surface, away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Before You Buy Verify Load Requirements: Calculate the total wattage of all appliances you intend to power simultaneously to ensure it does not exceed the inverter's continuous power rating (800VA / 650W). Consider peak power requirements for motor-driven appliances. Battery System Compatibility: This inverter is designed for 12V DC battery systems. Ensure your battery bank voltage matches this requirement. Optional Accessories: For full monitoring and configuration capabilities, consider purchasing a Victron VE.Direct to USB cable or a VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle separately. UK Plug Type: This model is supplied with a standard UK 3-pin plug socket. Always verify product specifications and compatibility with your specific system requirements before purchase. Victron Energy offers a 5-year standard warranty on this power product.
