ECO Mode When enabled, the inverter enters standby if the load drops below a preset value (min. 15W). It periodically checks for load (default: every 2.5 seconds) and switches on if the load exceeds a preset level, saving power. Monitoring Capabilities Monitor in- and output voltage, percentage load, and receive alarm notifications via the VE.Direct port. Typical Applications Application Description Small Off-Grid Systems Providing 230V AC power for lighting, small appliances, and charging devices in cabins, sheds, or remote workshops. Mobile & Marine Use Suitable for caravans, motorhomes, boats, and other vehicles to run domestic equipment from a 12V battery. Backup Power As a reliable source of emergency power for essential electronics during grid outages. Built-In Protection Functions The Victron Phoenix Inverter 12/250 VE.Direct is designed with multiple protection features to ensure safe and reliable operation. These include protection against output short circuits • overload • battery voltage too high or too low • and overheating due to overload or high ambient temperature. The unit also carries CE, EN/IEC 60335-1, and EN/IEC 62109-1 certifications, affirming its compliance with relevant safety standards. Common Questions What can I power with a 250VA inverter? A 250VA inverter can power small appliances and electronics such as laptops, phone chargers, LED lights, small TVs, and some low-power kitchen gadgets. Always check the power consumption of your devices to ensure they do not exceed the inverter's continuous or peak power ratings. How does the VE.Direct port work? The VE.Direct port allows you to connect the inverter to a computer (using a VE.Direct to USB cable) or a smartphone/tablet (using a VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle). This enables detailed monitoring of performance and configuration of various settings via Victron's software or app. What is ECO mode and how does it save power? ECO mode is a power-saving feature. When the load connected to the inverter drops below a configurable minimum (e.g., 15W), the inverter will switch to a standby state. It then periodically "wakes up" for a short period to check if a load has returned. If a load exceeding the preset level is detected, the inverter will switch back on. This significantly reduces idle power consumption. Is this inverter suitable for sensitive electronics? Yes, the Victron Phoenix Inverter 12/250 VE.Direct produces a pure sine wave output. This type of output is identical to grid power, making it safe and suitable for all types of electronic devices, including sensitive equipment like laptops, medical devices, and audio-visual equipment. Installation Notes Installation should be carried out by a qualified professional or competent person familiar with 12V DC and 230V AC electrical systems. Ensure adequate ventilation around the inverter to prevent overheating, especially when operating at higher loads. Connect the inverter directly to the battery bank using appropriately sized cables and fuses to prevent voltage drop and ensure safety. Observe correct polarity when connecting DC input cables to avoid damage to the unit. Mount the inverter in a dry, protected location, away from direct sunlight, moisture, and flammable materials. Before You Buy Verify the total power consumption (in Watts or VA) of all appliances you intend to run simultaneously to ensure it does not exceed the inverter's continuous output rating. Confirm your battery bank voltage is 12V DC to match this inverter's input requirements. Consider the surge or peak power requirements of your appliances, especially those with motors or compressors, and ensure the inverter's peak power rating is sufficient. Familiarise yourself with the VE.Direct communication options if you plan to use monitoring and advanced configuration features. Consult the official Victron Energy documentation for detailed specifications and installation guidelines. All specifications are based on manufacturer data and are subject to change. Always verify compatibility and requirements before purchase. This product comes with a 5-year manufacturer's warranty.
