Technical Specifications Parameter Value Voltage 12/24V (Auto-Ranging) Max. Continuous Load Current 65A Peak Current (30 Seconds) 250A Connection Type M6 Terminals IP Rating (Electronics) IP67 (Potted) IP Rating (Connections) IP00 Dimensions (Incl. Terminals) 40 x 48 x 106mm Weight 0.2 kg Operating & Power Guidance The Smart Battery Protect offers advanced control over your DC loads, ensuring reliable power management and battery longevity. Its intelligent features are designed to prevent common issues in 12V and 24V systems. Programmable Engage/Disengage Levels: Set precise voltage thresholds for load connection and disconnection, either via Bluetooth or nine predefined settings using the programming pin. Over Voltage Protection: Automatically disconnects the load if the DC voltage exceeds 16.3V (for 12V systems) or 32.6V (for 24V systems) to protect sensitive electronics. Delayed Alarm Output: An alarm output is activated if the battery voltage drops below the preset disconnect level for more than 12 seconds, preventing false alarms from engine starting. Delayed Load Disconnect & Reconnect: Loads are disconnected 90 seconds after the voltage drops below the threshold and reconnected 30 seconds after the voltage rises above the reconnect threshold, preventing rapid cycling. Typical Applications Application Description Leisure & Marine Vehicles Protects auxiliary batteries in caravans, motorhomes, and boats from deep discharge by non-essential loads. Off-Grid Solar Systems Ensures critical loads remain powered and battery health is maintained in remote power setups. Automotive & Commercial Fleets Prevents vehicle starting issues by disconnecting non-essential loads when battery voltage is low. Backup Power Solutions Manages battery discharge in small-scale backup systems to prolong battery life. Built-In Protection Functions The Victron Smart Battery Protect incorporates several safety features to ensure reliable operation and protection for your battery and connected loads. These include: Over Voltage Protection to prevent damage from excessive voltage spikes • Under Voltage Disconnect to prevent deep battery discharge • Ignition Proof Design with MOSFET switches for spark-free operation • Short Circuit Proof Alarm Output (max 50mA) for external indicators. Common Questions What is the primary function of the Smart Battery Protect? Its main purpose is to disconnect non-essential loads from your battery before it becomes fully discharged, thereby protecting the battery from damage and ensuring power for critical functions. Can I use this with Li-ion batteries? Yes, the Smart Battery Protect has a special mode for Li-ion batteries, allowing it to be controlled by a Victron VE.Bus BMS for optimal management. How do I program the voltage levels? You can easily program the engage and disengage voltage levels wirelessly via Bluetooth using the VictronConnect app on your smartphone or tablet. Alternatively, nine predefined levels can be set using the programming pin. Is it suitable for charging circuits? No, the Smart Battery Protect is specifically designed for load disconnection and is not intended for use with reverse currents from charging sources. Installation Notes Ensure the device is installed in a dry, well-ventilated area, protected from direct weather exposure. Connect the Battery Protect between the battery and the DC loads you wish to protect. Always follow the wiring diagrams provided in the manufacturer's manual for correct and safe installation. Use appropriately sized cables and fuses for the continuous load current to prevent overheating. For Li-ion battery systems, ensure proper integration with a compatible VE.Bus BMS for optimal performance and safety.
