Storage Mode Automatically reduces float voltage after 24 hours of inactivity to minimise gassing and plate corrosion. Li-ion Charging Utilises a simple bulk-absorption-float algorithm specifically for Li-ion batteries. NIGHT & LOW Modes Reduces output current by up to 50% for silent operation, ideal for overnight charging or quiet environments. Synchronized Parallel Charging Connect up to ten chargers in a VE.Smart network to act as one large charger, enhancing flexibility and redundancy. Typical Applications Application Description Motor Vehicles Ideal for charging batteries in classic cars, motorbikes, and other recreational vehicles. Marine & Leisure Suitable for boats, yachts, camper-vans, and motorhomes, ensuring reliable power for leisure activities. Workshop Use A versatile charger for maintaining and reconditioning various 12V batteries in a professional workshop setting. Off-Grid & Backup Systems Can be integrated into smaller off-grid setups or used as a reliable backup charger for essential 12V systems. Built-In Protection Functions The Victron Blue Smart IP22 Charger incorporates multiple safety features to protect both the charger and connected batteries. These include protection against overheating, which reduces output current as temperature rises to prevent damage • short-circuit protection • and reverse polarity protection to safeguard against incorrect connections. Common Questions What types of batteries can this charger handle? The Victron Blue Smart IP22 Charger 12/20 is compatible with a wide range of 12V lead-acid batteries (including flooded, GEL, AGM) and Li-ion (LiFePO4) batteries. How do I monitor and control the charger? The charger features built-in Bluetooth Smart, allowing you to monitor voltage, current, and change settings wirelessly using the VictronConnect app on your smartphone or tablet. Can I use this charger in a quiet environment? Yes, the charger includes NIGHT and LOW modes which reduce the output current and ensure totally noiseless operation, making it suitable for use in residential or quiet vehicle environments. What does the IP22 rating mean? An IP22 rating indicates that the charger is protected against solid objects larger than 12.5mm (e.g., fingers) and against vertically falling water drops when the enclosure is tilted up to 15 degrees. It is designed for indoor use and offers basic protection against moisture. Installation Notes Ensure the charger is installed in a well-ventilated area to prevent heat build-up. Mount the charger securely using the integrated mounting tabs on a stable surface. Connect the charger to a suitable 230V AC power source. Always ensure correct polarity when connecting to batteries to prevent damage. For optimal performance and safety, it is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified professional. Before You Buy Verify your battery voltage (must be 12V) and capacity requirements match the charger's output. Confirm the input plug type (CEE 7/7) is compatible with your UK mains sockets, or if an adapter is required. Consider the number of battery banks you need to charge; this model offers three outputs. Review the VictronConnect app requirements for your smart device if you plan to use Bluetooth monitoring. Ensure the installation environment meets the IP22 rating requirements (indoor, protected from direct water spray). Product specifications are based on manufacturer data and are subject to change. Always verify compatibility and requirements before purchase. Backed by a 5-year manufacturer's warranty.
