Marine Vessels Ideal for charging multiple battery banks on boats, providing essential power for onboard systems. Classic Cars & Motorbikes Maintains battery health during storage or infrequent use, extending battery lifespan. Workshops & Garages Versatile charging solution for various 12V battery types and applications. Off-Grid Systems Can serve as a reliable AC charger for 12V battery banks in off-grid or backup power setups. Built-In Protection Functions The Victron Blue Smart IP22 Charger incorporates several safety features to protect both the charger and your batteries. These include overheating protection, which reduces output current as temperature increases to prevent damage. It also features fully discharged battery recovery, allowing it to initiate charging even from zero volts. Additionally, the unit provides short-circuit protection for DC output and reverse polarity protection for AC input (via an ATO blade fuse). Common Questions What types of batteries can this charger charge? The Victron Blue Smart IP22 Charger is compatible with all 12V lead-acid battery types (flooded, GEL, AGM) and Lithium-ion (LiFePO4) batteries. Can I monitor and control the charger remotely? Yes, the charger features built-in Bluetooth Smart, allowing you to monitor voltage, current, and change settings via the free VictronConnect app on your smartphone or tablet. What does the IP22 rating mean? The IP22 rating indicates protection against solid objects larger than 12.5mm and against vertically falling water drops when the enclosure is tilted up to 15 degrees. This means it is suitable for indoor or sheltered, dry-mount installations. Can this charger be used as a power supply? Yes, the Victron Blue Smart IP22 Charger can function as a stable DC power supply, providing continuous power when no battery is connected. Installation Notes Mount the charger vertically on a non-flammable surface, with terminals facing downwards. Ensure adequate ventilation and at least 10cm of unobstructed space around the charger for optimal cooling. Do not install the charger directly on top of or in a sealed compartment with the battery. Connect suitable DC power cabling to the battery terminals. Note that DC cables are not included. Always install a suitably rated inline fuse or circuit breaker in the DC cabling, as close to the battery as practical. For permanent installations or complex systems, professional installation is recommended. Before You Buy Confirm your battery system is 12V and that the 15A charge current is appropriate for your battery capacity (recommended for 75-120Ah batteries). Verify that your mains power supply is 230V AC (UK plug compatible). Note that while there are three outputs, all connected batteries must be of the same chemistry as only one charge profile can be active at a time. Consider the IP22 rating; this charger is designed for indoor or protected environments, not for direct exposure to water or harsh outdoor conditions. Review the VictronConnect app features to ensure it meets your monitoring and customisation needs. Please verify all specifications and compatibility with your specific system requirements before purchase. Victron Energy offers a 5-year standard warranty on this power product, subject to their terms and conditions.
