Product Description Topdon LAC04-14 AVM Calibration Panels for Volkswagen and Audi This is not a tool. It is a target, and understanding that distinction is most of what you need to know before ordering. The LAC04-14 panel set gives a Volkswagen or Audi around-view monitoring system a known, printed pattern to look at during calibration, so the vehicle can work out exactly where each of its cameras is pointing. The scan tool tells the car to calibrate. The panel is what the car calibrates against. That makes the accuracy of the panel itself part of the accuracy of the finished job, which is the argument for buying the correct pattern rather than improvising one. What an around-view calibration actually needs A surround-view system stitches several wide-angle camera images into one overhead picture. It can only do that if it knows precisely where each camera sits and how it is aimed, and those relationships change whenever a bumper, a mirror housing, a tailgate or a windshield is disturbed. Calibration is the procedure that re-establishes them. During the procedure the vehicle is asked to look at a pattern whose geometry it already knows. It compares what it expects to see against what it does see, and it derives the correction from the difference. Every part of that chain depends on the pattern being right: correctly proportioned, correctly printed, flat, clean and undamaged. Why a target is a precision part It is tempting to look at a printed panel and see a printed panel. The vehicle does not. A pattern that is scuffed, creased, faded, sitting on an uneven floor or laid at a slight angle produces a calibration that completes successfully and is quietly wrong, and a quietly wrong surround-view calibration is worse than an obvious failure because nobody investigates it. The car will show a picture. The picture will simply not correspond to where things really are. Treat these panels as measuring equipment. Store them flat, keep them out of sunlight, keep them dry, and retire them when they mark rather than working around the marks. A replacement target costs far less than a comeback on an advanced driver assistance job. Vehicle coverage TOPDON specifies this panel set for around-view monitoring calibration on Volkswagen and Audi vehicles. Because coverage on driver assistance calibration is defined per model, per model year and often per camera package, the sensible order of operations is to look up the specific vehicle you have in front of you in your scan tool's calibration coverage before you order the target. If you would like us to confirm a particular vehicle against TOPDON's current list, send us the year, model and trim and we will ask on your behalf. What else the job needs A target on its own does not calibrate anything. You will also need a scan tool capable of running the around-view calibration routine for that make, and the space and floor conditions the procedure calls for, which usually means a level surface, controlled lighting and room around the vehicle. If you are assembling a calibration capability from scratch rather than adding a target to a setup you already run, talk to us before ordering individual pieces so the parts you buy actually work together. Perfect For Shops already calibrating driver assistance systems and adding Volkswagen and Audi around-view coverage. Collision centers whose repairs routinely disturb bumpers, mirrors and tailgates that carry cameras. Glass and body specialists who would rather complete the calibration than sublet it. Mobile calibration operators who need a replacement for a target that has been damaged in transit. What's in the Box The manufacturer's description for this listing identifies it as the around-view monitoring panel set for these vehicles and does not publish a piece count or a frame. We are not going to state a quantity that the data does not state. If you need to know exactly how many panels arrive and whether any mounting hardware is included, ask us before ordering and we will confirm it against the carton. Certification and conformity Nothing in the data supplied for this accessory claims a third-party listing or approval, and we do not print approvals that a product does not claim. This is a passive item with no electrical function, so what governs its use in practice is the vehicle manufacturer's own calibration procedure rather than an independent listing. If a manufacturer repair program or an insurer requires calibration to be performed with equipment approved under a named scheme, get that requirement in writing and check it before you rely on any aftermarket target, this one included. Shipping and delivery This item ships free within the lower 48 states, so there is nothing to add at checkout. Targets are flat, light and easy to damage in transit, so this is one of the items where inspecting the carton in front of the driver genuinely matters. A crease or a corner impact on the packaging can mean a panel that is no longer flat, and a panel that is no longer flat is no longer accurate. Note any damage on the delivery paperwork before signing, and unpack it the same day rather than leaning it against a wall to deal with later. Warranty Warranty handling follows the process on our warranty claims page. For a printed target the realistic claim is a manufacturing or transit defect, so check the panel over and confirm it is flat and unmarked as soon as it arrives rather than at the moment you first need it. Do not attempt to flatten, trim or repair a damaged panel before raising a claim, because a modified target is both outside the warranty terms and no longer trustworthy as a measurement reference.
