Product Description TOPDON TC003 Thermal Imaging Camera Most thermal cameras finish their work the moment you press the shutter. The TC003 does not. Its secondary analysis feature lets you reopen a saved image and interrogate it — the temperature of any individual pixel, and waveform graphs plotting how temperature moved over time. That turns a thermal image from a snapshot into evidence you can go back to, which matters when the fault you photographed at nine in the morning has to be explained to somebody at four in the afternoon. The second thing that sets it apart is OTG. The TC003 can host external devices — an endoscope, an oscilloscope, a USB drive — through its own port, so one tool covers thermal inspection, borescope work and data offload without a laptop in the middle. For a technician working out of a bag rather than a bench, that consolidation is the whole argument. What You Can Actually See With It The infrared sensor is 256x192, with a heat sensitivity of 40mk and an accuracy quoted down to 0.1°C. In practical terms that resolution is fine enough to separate adjacent surfaces on a circuit board — the case where a coarse sensor smears two components into one warm blur and tells you nothing. Measurement error is stated as ±2°C or 2% of the maximum temperature, which is the figure to check your expectations against before you rely on an absolute reading rather than a relative one. The measurement range runs from -4°F to +1022°F (-20°C to +550°C), so the same instrument covers a refrigeration line and an exhaust manifold. The frame rate is 25Hz, which is what makes the live image usable while you sweep a panel rather than only when you hold still. Four Ways to Read a Temperature, and Eleven Ways to See It The TC003 offers four temperature reading modes: a single point, a line reporting its highest and lowest values, a rectangular area reporting its highest and lowest, and full-frame analysis. You can select up to three areas per dimension, so several zones can be watched at once — the practical case being a row of breakers or a bank of injectors where you want to know which one is the outlier rather than what any of them reads on its own. A colour bar down the side of the screen makes that outlier obvious without reading any number at all. Imaging modes cover visible light, thermal, thermal fusion and outline fusion. Fusion modes matter more than they sound: a pure thermal image of a wiring loom tells you something is hot but not which wire, whereas an outline-fused image shows the heat sitting on top of the physical object. Eleven colour palettes let you pick the rendering that makes your particular contrast visible. Getting the Number Right: Emissivity and Correction Thermal cameras do not measure temperature; they measure emitted radiation and infer temperature, which means the surface's emissivity, the distance to the target and the ambient conditions all change the answer. The TC003 lets you adjust for all three, and ships with an emissivity chart of common materials. This is the difference between a camera that produces pretty pictures and one that produces figures you can put in a report — shiny bare metal in particular will lie to an uncorrected camera by a wide margin. Built for the Field Drop resistance to 2 meters and IP55 rating against water and dust are the specifications that matter for a tool carried between a van and a roof. Overcharge protection guards the battery, which is 5000mAh. The 5-inch touchscreen runs at 800x480, and the camera adds a low-light night vision lens, a built-in speaker, a flashlight and screen recording. It rotates between landscape and portrait, and there is a tripod screw hole in the body for the inspections where you need the camera to stay put and watch something change. Working With It on a Computer The TC003 connects to a Windows laptop through TOPDON's TCView software, which expands the palette options to 99 and adds point, line and surface selection across larger areas than the handheld screen makes practical. If your workflow ends in a written report for a client or an insurer, this is where that report gets built. Perfect For Automotive diagnostics — parasitic draws, seized brakes, blocked heater cores, failing injectors and bad grounds all announce themselves thermally before they announce themselves any other way. Electrical inspection, where a loose connection is a hot connection long before it is a failed one. HVAC service and building inspection — duct leakage, insulation gaps, moisture ingress and underfloor heating runs. Electronics and board-level repair, using the sensor resolution to pick out a single component drawing more than it should. Agricultural and general facilities work, which TOPDON names specifically among the intended applications. What's in the Box The camera itself and the emissivity chart of common materials that TOPDON supplies with it. TCView is downloaded software rather than a boxed item, and no tripod, endoscope or oscilloscope is included — those are the devices the OTG port lets you attach, not accessories that come with it. If you want to confirm the exact carton contents before ordering, ask us and we will get the packing list from TOPDON rather than guess at it. We have reproduced them exactly as issued and have not labelled which is horizontal, which is vertical and which is diagonal, because the source does not say and assigning them ourselves would be a guess dressed up as a specification. If field of view is critical to your application — standoff distance in a confined plant room, for instance — ask us and we will get the manufacturer to confirm which angle is which. Certification, Stated Honestly This product's data claims no third-party safety listing, conformity mark or laboratory calibration certificate, and we are not going to imply one. The point worth understanding is about calibration rather than safety: a thermal camera used for formal reporting — insurance work, regulated electrical inspection, some energy assessment schemes — is often required to carry traceable calibration, renewed on a schedule. Nothing in this listing offers that. If your reports have to stand up under a scheme like that, confirm what it requires before you buy. For diagnostic and maintenance use, where you are comparing one component against its neighbour, it is not a constraint. Shipping and Delivery This item ships free, so there is nothing to add at checkout. Someone needs to be available to take the delivery, or you can arrange to collect from the carrier's terminal instead, and residential delivery is billed as a separate service. Please open nothing and sign nothing until you have looked the carton over — any damage should be written onto the bill of lading with the driver standing there. Signing clean and reporting later is the one route that makes a claim hard to win. Warranty The TC003 is covered by TOPDON's manufacturer warranty. No term is stated in the product data we hold, so none is printed here — we would rather leave a gap than invent a duration. Ask before you order and we will confirm the current cover in writing; the process itself is on our warranty claims page. Please also note the condition that applies to everything we sell: do not open the housing or attempt a repair on a unit you intend to claim against. On a sealed instrument this is doubly true, because opening it compromises the IP55 rating whatever else it does to the warranty. Photograph the problem, leave the camera intact, and get in touch.
