Topdon LAC05-03 Corner Reflector for ACC and Blind Spot Calibration A corner reflector is a deceptively simple object doing a demanding job. Its shape is designed so that a signal arriving from a range of angles is returned along the path it came in on, which gives a vehicle's forward and blind-spot sensors a strong, predictable, precisely located return to aim themselves against. The LAC05-03 is TOPDON's reflector for adaptive cruise control and blind spot detection calibration on Toyota, Honda, Lexus, Mazda, Subaru and Mitsubishi vehicles. The consequence of that geometry is the thing worth understanding before you buy: the reflector is a reference standard, and its value depends entirely on its shape being exactly what the vehicle assumes it is. What the vehicle is really measuring During a sensor calibration the vehicle is not looking at an object so much as at a known point in space. It has been told where the reference should be relative to the vehicle's centreline and how strong a return to expect from it. Everything it then computes about aim is derived from the difference between that expectation and the reading it takes. This is why calibration procedures are so particular about positioning, floor level and the space around the vehicle. Signals of this kind reflect off more than the target, and a cluttered bay, a nearby metal cabinet or a vehicle on the next lift can all contribute returns that were never meant to be part of the measurement. The procedure's clearance requirements are not conservatism. They are the measurement conditions. Why physical condition is the specification A corner reflector works because of its angles. Dent one face, bend an edge, drop it onto concrete or store it under something heavy and the returned signal moves, weakens or scatters. The calibration that follows may still report success, and it may still be wrong, which is the failure mode that matters on driver assistance work because nothing announces itself. The customer drives away with a system that believes it is looking somewhere it is not. So handle it as measuring equipment rather than as shop hardware. Keep it in its packaging or a dedicated case, store it where nothing can be stacked on it, and if it takes a knock, treat it as suspect until you can compare it against a known good unit. Replacing a damaged reflector is inexpensive against the cost of one bad calibration. Vehicle coverage TOPDON specifies this reflector for adaptive cruise control and blind spot detection calibration on Toyota, Honda, Lexus, Mazda, Subaru and Mitsubishi. As with every driver assistance accessory, the operative coverage is defined per model and per model year inside the calibration software, not by the brand list. Check the exact vehicle in your scan tool's coverage before ordering, or send us the year, model and trim and we will confirm it against TOPDON's current information. What the job needs alongside it The reflector is one component of a calibration setup. The procedure will also call for a scan tool that runs the routine for that make, a means of positioning the reflector accurately relative to the vehicle, and a bay that meets the space and floor requirements. If you are building this capability rather than extending one, speak to us before buying pieces individually, because a target bought without the positioning equipment it assumes is a target you cannot use. Perfect For Calibration shops adding Japanese-brand radar coverage to an existing driver assistance setup. Collision repairers whose bumper and grille work regularly disturbs forward sensors. Dealer groups and fleet workshops handling these makes in volume. Any shop replacing a reflector that has been damaged, dropped or lost in transit. What's in the Box The information supplied for this listing identifies the reflector and the systems it calibrates. It does not publish a quantity, a mounting arrangement or a stand, and we are not going to state any of those on its behalf. If you need to know whether mounting hardware is included, or whether the reflector fits a frame you already own, ask us before ordering and we will confirm against the carton and with TOPDON. Certification and conformity No third-party listing or approval is claimed in the data supplied with this accessory, so none is printed here. It is a passive item with no electrical function, and what actually governs its use is the vehicle manufacturer's calibration procedure. Be aware that some manufacturer repair programs and insurer requirements specify the equipment permitted for driver assistance calibration by name. If you work under an agreement like that, read the tooling clause and confirm it before relying on any aftermarket reference, including this one. Shipping and delivery This item ships free within the lower 48 states, so there is nothing to add at checkout. Of everything we sell, precision targets are the items where transit damage matters most and shows least, because a reflector can be knocked out of true inside packaging that still looks presentable. Inspect the carton with the driver present, record any impact damage on the delivery paperwork before signing, and unpack and examine the reflector itself the same day rather than storing the box unopened until the first job needs it. Warranty Warranty claims run through the process on our warranty claims page. For an item like this the realistic claim is a defect present on arrival or damage in transit, both of which are far easier to resolve in the first days than months later, so check it immediately. Do not attempt to straighten, bend back or otherwise repair a damaged reflector before raising a claim. A repaired reference is outside the warranty terms, and more to the point it is no longer a reference.
