Topdon BTMobile Lite 12V Wireless Battery & System Tester The interesting decision in this tester is what it leaves out. There is no screen. Every result goes to your phone over Bluetooth, and the whole design follows from that one omission: no display means no display-sized housing, which is why the unit is 27mm — 1.06 inches — thick and fits in a pocket rather than a tool bag. That is a real trade rather than a cost saving, and it is worth understanding before you buy. What you lose is the ability to test a battery without a phone in your hand. What you gain is a tester that is always with you, and results that arrive somewhere they can be saved, dated and sent — rather than on a screen you have to write down from. What it tests Three modes, built for 12V automotive systems, each answering a different question. Battery test — state of health and state of charge. This is the one that separates "flat" from "finished". Cranking test — voltage stability while the starter motor is drawing current. A battery can read perfectly well at rest and collapse under load, and only a cranking test exposes it. Charging test — alternator and regulator performance under load. This is the test that prevents a healthy battery being replaced for a charging fault, which is the most common and most expensive misdiagnosis in this area. Run in sequence, those three tell you whether a no-start came from the battery, the starter or the charging system — which is the actual question, and one a voltmeter cannot answer. Battery types, and why the list matters The tester covers regular flooded, AGM flat plate, AGM spiral, EFB and GEL batteries. That spread is what makes it useful beyond cars: the same tool suits SUVs, light trucks, motorcycles, powersports equipment and marine applications, where the battery chemistry varies far more than it does in a passenger car park. It matters practically because different chemistries behave differently under test. A tester that assumes flooded lead-acid will misjudge an AGM start-stop battery, and start-stop AGM is now most of the fleet. Working with it The unit pairs to a phone over Bluetooth and reports to the free Topdon app, which supports English, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Japanese. Two LEDs handle the part of the job that happens before the app opens. A green LED confirms the clamps are correctly connected to the battery; a blue LED shows Bluetooth is active and ready to pair. That is a sensible allocation of the two things you need to know while your head is under the bonnet and your phone is in your pocket. On the safety side there is reverse polarity protection, short-circuit prevention and over-voltage safeguarding — protecting the vehicle's electronics as much as the tool. Where it can be used Operating range is -20°C to 65°C (-4°F to 140°F) and storage is -20°C to 70°C (-4°F to 158°F). For a tool this small that range is the point: it lives in a glovebox, a jacket or a door pocket, which are the places that get properly hot and properly cold, and it is rated for them. Size and weight, with one figure to confirm The unit measures 81 by 68 by 27mm — 3.19 by 2.68 by 1.06 inches. It weighs 250 g. Published weight figures differ in their imperial conversion — the written description gives 8.8 oz and the specification table gives 8.81 oz. Both are shown here; the difference changes nothing about the product, and the metric figure of 250 g is common to both, which is the one quoted above. If the exact imperial figure matters to you, ask and we will confirm it. One other inconsistency worth flagging in the same spirit: this product is titled BTMobile Lite, while a heading elsewhere on the page reads simply "BTMobile". They refer to the same tester; the model recorded against this listing is BTMobile Lite. Perfect For Mobile technicians and roadside assistance, where a tester that lives in a pocket is a tester that is present. Independent workshops wanting a quick battery, cranking and charging check without occupying the bench tester. Used car dealers and trade buyers checking stock that has been standing on a forecourt. Motorcycle, powersports and marine owners, where battery types vary and access is awkward. Home mechanics running several vehicles who would rather measure a battery than replace it on suspicion. What's in the Box The tester and its clamps. The listing data does not itemise a case, a lead or printed documentation, so this page does not claim them. The app is a free download rather than something in the carton. Ask and we will confirm the current packing list before you order. It is worth saying rather than leaving blank, because some fleet and municipal purchasing policies require named documentation for test equipment before a tool can be issued to a technician. If yours does, tell us which document it asks for and we will obtain the current manufacturer paperwork before you order. Shipping and delivery A small parcel item, shipping to addresses in the lower 48 states or available for warehouse collection. Cost is calculated for your address at checkout rather than printed here, because carrier rates move. Check the clamps and the housing on arrival and note any damage on the delivery paperwork at the time — damage recorded at the door is what supports a claim afterwards. Warranty Terms and the claim process are published on our warranty claims page. If the tester fails, contact us before opening the housing or re-terminating a clamp lead. A tool that has been taken apart cannot be assessed, and on a sealed wireless instrument the repair and the original fault become impossible to tell apart once the case is off. Why Choose the BTMobile Lite The Topdon BTMobile Lite combines professional-grade testing accuracy with lightweight portability. It provides the key diagnostics you need without expensive, oversized equipment. With its wireless design, multi-battery compatibility, and built-in safety features, this tester is an ideal solution for everyday drivers, repair shops, and technicians who need fast and reliable battery system checks. How It Works Connect the clamps to the battery terminals. Launch the Topdon app on your phone and pair via Bluetooth. Select the test mode—battery, cranking, or charging. Review real-time results, displayed clearly on your mobile device. The process takes less than a minute and delivers detailed insights into the health of both the battery and the electrical system.
