Pond Bacteria Starter for Larger New Installations, 2 lb Supernatural NewPond accelerates beneficial bacteria colonization in new pond systems, shortening the nitrogen cycle period that leaves fish vulnerable to ammonia and nitrite spikes. The 2 lb jar covers ponds up to 2,000 gal (7,600 L) through the startup cycling period, with enough product for weekly applications through the first month plus a reserve dose for spring restarts. Coverage for Medium New Builds Ponds over 1,000 gal (3,800 L) need proportionally more bacteria to colonize the larger volume of filter media, liner surface, and water. Underdosing during startup extends the cycling window and increases ammonia risk to new fish. The 2 lb size ensures adequate bacterial loading at the concentrations needed to cycle a medium pond efficiently. Coverage Ponds up to 2,000 gal (7,600 L) Format Dry granular Weight 2 lb (907 g) Best Used New pond startup, spring restarts, after filter media replacement Safe For Koi, goldfish, aquatic plants, wildlife How to Use Dissolve in a bucket of pond water before adding to the system. Apply at new pond startup and weekly for four weeks during initial cycling. Direct a portion near the filter to concentrate bacteria where colonization is most critical. Monitor ammonia and nitrite weekly and continue dosing until both hold at zero before transitioning to a maintenance bacterial product. Also use after winter shutdown, major water changes, or filter media replacement. Ideal for new koi ponds and water garden installations from 1,000 to 2,000 gal (3,800 to 7,600 L), and for re-establishing biological filtration after seasonal shutdown.
