Beneficial Bacteria Starter for New Pond Cycling, 1 lb A new pond has no established biological filter. Without beneficial bacteria colonizing your filter media and pond surfaces, ammonia and nitrite from fish waste accumulate to toxic levels within days. Supernatural NewPond seeds your system with the bacterial strains needed to start the nitrogen cycle, accelerating the process that typically takes four to six weeks and reducing the risk of new fish loss during startup. The 1 lb jar treats ponds up to 1,000 gal (3,800 L) through the initial cycling period. Cycling Faster, Losing Fewer Fish Adding fish too early in the cycling process is the most common cause of new pond fish loss. NewPond jumpstarts bacterial colonization so ammonia processing begins sooner, shortening the window when fish are at risk. Apply before fish are introduced, and continue dosing weekly for the first month to sustain the population while colonies stabilize on filter media. Coverage Ponds up to 1,000 gal (3,800 L) Format Dry granular Weight 1 lb (454 g) Best Used New pond startup, system restarts, after major water changes Safe For Koi, goldfish, aquatic plants, wildlife How to Use Apply to the new pond before or at the time of fish introduction. Dissolve granules in a bucket of pond water and distribute evenly, with extra concentration near filter intake areas. Treat weekly for four weeks during the cycling period, then transition to a maintenance bacterial product. Test ammonia and nitrite weekly during startup to monitor cycling progress. Ideal for new koi pond builds and ornamental water garden installations up to 1,000 gal (3,800 L), and for re-establishing biological filtration after winter shutdown or system overhauls.
