Sense and Sensibility Jane Austen 1908 Dent Brock Illustrated EditionAn original 1908 illustrated edition of Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen, published by J.M. Dent & Co., London, with colour illustrations by C.E. Brock. This edition is part of Dent’s highly regarded early illustrated Austen series, known for their elegant Art Nouveau gilt cloth bindings and finely printed colour plates. The original pale green cloth binding retains its decorative gilt floral design and spine titling. These editions are especially popular with collectors, decorators, and stylists due to their refined Edwardian design and association with one of Britain’s most beloved authors. The book includes the illustrated title page and coloured plates by C.E. Brock. A period ownership bookplate remains to the front pastedown, adding authentic Edwardian provenance. This example is best suited as a decorative antique book, reading copy, or for gentle restoration, and still displays beautifully despite its structural fault. ConditionFair antique condition. Spine split and detached from one board at the hinge, though still present. General age-related wear, rubbing, fading, and fraying to spine ends. Gilt decoration remains visible. Internally complete with illustrated plates. Pages show age toning, foxing, and browning to endpapers. Structurally compromised but complete. No loose pages and no missing pages observed. DimensionsH: 20 cm x L: 12.5 cm x W: 2.5 cm EraEdwardian period, published 1907
