Experience precise calcium balancing and enhanced coral growth with Seachem Reef Kalkwasser 250g. This pure calcium hydroxide formulation is renowned for its high purity and solubility, making it an optimal choice for marine aquariums. Kalkwasser solutions help maintain calcium concentrations at levels found in natural seawater, while indirectly supporting carbonate alkalinity. However, its effectiveness is largely influenced by the rate of evaporation and CO2 concentration within your system. Additionally, successful use of kalkwasser requires regular monitoring and adjustment of carbonate alkalinity and magnesium levels to prevent undesirable chemical shifts and maintain a thriving reef ecosystem. Regular cleaning may also be needed to manage chalk build-up on substrates and plumbing. While suitable for experienced aquarists, beginners or those with limited time may prefer less complex solutions for maintaining ionic balance. For optimal results, dissolve 3 g (1 teaspoon) of Reef Kalkwasser in 4 L of water for a basic mixture, or 6 g (2 teaspoons) for a saturated solution using pure water. Drip this solution into your tank while monitoring pH and alkalinity to ensure stability. Always use the clear supernatant for the aquarium and avoid direct contact or breathing the powder. Proper handling will safeguard both you and your marine system.
