Flourite Black Sand is a specially fracted, stable porous clay gravel engineered for natural planted aquariums. Its rich black coloration enhances the appearance of any aquatic environment, creating a striking contrast with vibrant plants and marine life. This substrate is optimised for planted aquaria environments but can also be utilised in various aquarium setups. It possesses a unique capability of functioning as an integral substrate bed if used alone but has the versatility to be mixed with other types of gravel if desired. The substrate requires no additional gravel modifiers such as laterite, as it provides all necessary conditions for plant growth. Flourite Black Sand is not chemically coated or treated, ensuring it will not alter the pH balance of the aquarium water, thus maintaining a stable and healthy environment for aquatic life. It is recommended to rinse the substrate before use to remove residual dust, and to fill the aquarium slowly to prevent excessive disturbance of the substrate, which may cause slight initial cloudiness. This cloudiness is temporary and will typically clear within 12-72 hours. Optionally, use Seachem Clarity in conjunction with a mechanical filter to expedite this process.
