Schulz SRP 4020E Dynamic, 460V: the same machine as its bigger siblings, sized for the air you actually use There is a useful piece of information buried in this range that nobody puts on a product page: the 4020E occupies the same space as the larger models above it. Same 58.5 in by 30.3 in footprint, same 39.8 in height, same 120-gallon horizontal receiver, same cabinet — the difference is the air end and the motor inside. This one is a 20 HP unit delivering 74 CFM at 125 PSI, and at 1146 lbs it is the lightest of the group. That matters because it lets you separate two decisions that usually get tangled together. Plan the space and the slab once, for the family. Then choose the air end on demand alone, without worrying that a smaller machine will leave a gap in your compressor room or that a larger one will not fit through the door. Buying the right size, not the biggest one Oversizing a compressor is a more common and more expensive mistake than undersizing one. A machine larger than the demand it serves spends its life loading and unloading, which wastes energy on every cycle, and you paid for the extra capacity twice — once in purchase price and again in the electrical service to feed it. The honest way to size is by adding up what runs at the same time, not by adding up everything you own. Impact wrenches are intermittent; a blast cabinet, a paint booth or a plasma cutter is not. If the sustained, overlapping demand of your shop lands within what a 74 CFM machine delivers, this is the machine, and the money you did not spend on the larger air end pays for the dryer and the pipework that will do more for your air quality than extra CFM would. Continuous duty at the size you chose Sizing correctly only works if the machine can actually run at its rating without complaint, which is where the 100% duty cycle comes in. A rotary screw compresses air continuously between meshing rotors rather than in the stop-start cycle a piston machine needs for cooling, so running it flat out through a working day is the design condition rather than something you are getting away with. The air end here is oil-injected — the oil seals the rotor clearances, removes compression heat and lubricates the bearings — and belt-driven, with a solid cast iron pump. An oil sight glass is fitted so the single most important maintenance check is a glance rather than a job. Moisture: what is handled and what is not An aftercooler comes fitted as standard. Its job is straightforward and valuable: cool the discharge air immediately so that the water it is carrying condenses at the machine, where the receiver and drain can deal with it, rather than travelling down your pipework to condense in a tool or on a panel you were painting. Be clear about the limit, though. An aftercooler is not a dryer, and our specification record confirms this build ships with no air dryer and no electronic drain valve. Draining the receiver stays a manual routine, and if your work is spray finishing, plasma cutting or anything with a moisture-sensitive tool at the end of the hose, treat a dryer as a required extra rather than an upgrade. Controls and three-phase protection A 24V microprocessor controller manages the machine, with adjustable operating parameters and a continuous readout — so setup can match how your shop uses air, and a fault reports itself instead of being diagnosed backwards from a machine that will not start. The automatic starters detect phase and sequence failure, protection that pays for itself the first time a supply is connected in the wrong rotation, which would otherwise damage a screw air end almost immediately. Will It Fit? 58.5 in long, 30.3 in wide, 39.8 in high, 1146 lbs, arriving as a single 2-In-1 skid with the air end, motor and receiver already assembled. It needs sound level concrete, clear air around the cabinet for cooling and access, and a shop main sized to suit the 1-inch tank outlet. Ambient operating temperature is stated up to 113 °F — a ceiling to design ventilation against, not a target to run at. The supply is 460V, 3-phase. Our record lists amp draw and recommended breaker as items to confirm with a certified electrician rather than as fixed values, which is correct: they depend on run length and local code. The incoming supply, the disconnect, the overcurrent protection and the conductors are the customer's responsibility and require a licensed electrician. Confirm your building's supply voltage before ordering, because the motor is wound for it. One small inconsistency in our data The manufacturer's overview rates the sound-attenuated cabinet at 69 dB(A). A separate noise field on our record carries a marginally lower figure for the same machine. The gap is small enough to make no difference to where you would site the compressor, and we are mentioning it only because we would rather you heard it from us: if you are specifying against a written noise limit for a lease or a local ordinance, ask us to confirm the figure against the manufacturer specification sheet rather than working from this page. Perfect For Shops that sized their demand honestly and do not need the larger air ends in this family. Buildings with a 460V three-phase service and a compressor room already planned. Two to four bay service operations with steady daily air use. Buyers who want the family footprint now, with the option to plan around the same space later. What Is in the Box The complete tank-mounted machine: 20 HP motor and rotary air end on the 120-gallon horizontal ASME receiver, inside the attenuated cabinet, with magnetic starter, 24V controller, oil sight glass and aftercooler fitted. Explicitly not included on this configuration: air dryer, electronic drain valve. Ask us about first-service consumables when you order — having them on the shelf is how the first service actually happens on time. Specifications Air delivery 74 CFM at 125 PSI (125 max) Motor 20 HP, TEFC, IP55 Duty cycle 100% Air end Rotary screw, oil-injected, belt drive, cast iron Receiver 120 gallon, horizontal, ASME Supply 460V, 3-phase Control 24V microprocessor controller, magnetic starter Sound level 69 dB(A) per the manufacturer overview — see the note above Aftercooler Yes Air dryer / electronic drain No / No Tank outlet 1-inch Dimensions 58.5 in x 30.3 in x 39.8 in Weight 1146 lbs Certification, stated plainly The receiver is ASME certified — a pressure-vessel code covering the tank's design, materials, welding and inspection. On a vessel holding compressed air in an occupied building that is the certification that counts, and it is usually the first thing an inspector asks to see. It is not a safety listing for the machine as an electrical assembly, and no such listing is claimed in our data for this package. We would rather state that than let a tank stamp be read as covering everything attached to it. If your insurer or your local inspection regime wants an equipment-level listing, confirm that requirement and check it with us before purchase. Shipping, delivery and pickup Freight to the lower 48 states, quoted live at checkout for your actual address — freight rates move, and a number written into a description only ever becomes wrong. Plan the unload before the truck arrives: a forklift with enough capacity for the skid, or a terminal collection arranged in advance. Residential delivery is available and carries a residential fee, displayed at checkout. Pickup for Schulz equipment is available in Acworth, GA. On arrival, inspect the machine with the driver still there and write any damage on the delivery paperwork before signing — that record is what turns a problem into a claim. Call, text or chat with questions: 866-774-7743. Warranty A 1-year warranty is listed for this unit, for consumer and commercial use. Keep the installation sign-off and start a service log at commissioning; both are what make a claim quick. If a fault develops, contact us before anything is opened — do not dismantle the air end, the separator or the panel ahead of a claim, because a machine that has been apart is a machine whose history is now in question.
