Ranger RJS-1TF Foot-Operated High Jack Stand The reason this stand exists, and the reason it costs more than a plain screw stand, is the foot pedal. Ranger calls it the "Jiggle Jack" mechanism: you nudge the pedal with a boot and the stand steps up or down without either hand leaving the component you are holding. On a high-reach stand that is not a convenience feature. It is the difference between supporting a gearbox with one hand while you fumble a spin handle with the other, and supporting it with both hands while your foot does the adjusting. It is built for work done on a vehicle that is already in the air — drivetrain, transmission and exhaust service on a car sitting on a lift — which is why the height range starts where a conventional stand stops. Read this first: the model name and the rated capacity are not the same number We are putting this at the top rather than burying it, because it is a load rating and it is the one thing on this page nobody should get wrong. The product is named and sold as a 1-Ton stand. The specification block published on this page rates its holding capacity at 1,650 lbs. (748 kg), and the manufacturer's own specification field on this product says the same. Those two figures do not describe the same load, and we are not going to reconcile them for you by picking whichever is more flattering. Work to the published figure of 1,650 lbs. (748 kg), which is the lower and therefore the safe one, and treat the model name as a name rather than a rating. If your application is anywhere near that limit, contact us before you order and we will get the true rated capacity confirmed by Ranger in writing. A stand is not a place to make an optimistic assumption. Will It Fit? What to check Figure Why it matters Lowered height 54.5" (1,382 mm) The stand cannot go under anything lower than this — the usual reason a high stand does not suit a bay Maximum height 80.5" (2,045 mm) How high the vehicle can be and still be reached Base diameter 12" (305 mm) Floor space between lift posts, runways and trolleys Holding capacity 1,650 lbs. (748 kg) The published rating — see the note above about the model name Weight 36 lbs. (16 kg) One person can reposition it; it is carried, not wheeled Shipping carton 53" x 13" x 3" (1,346 mm x 330 mm x 76 mm) Long and thin — check your receiving door and storage The lowered height is the number that catches people out. At 54.5" (1,382 mm) closed, this stand does not fit under a vehicle at working height on the floor; it is designed for a car already raised on a lift. If you want a stand for a jacked-up car on a driveway, this is the wrong tool and we would rather tell you now. Two responsibilities stay with you, and no product page can take them on. The floor must be sound, level concrete — a screw stand concentrates its whole load into a small base, and a base that sinks or slides is a base that fails. And the lift the vehicle is on remains the primary support: the stand is there to stabilise and to take the load shift, not to replace the lift's own safety locks. Why the height range is the specification that matters Adjustment runs from 54.5" to 80.5" — 1,382 mm to 2,045 mm — and the range is deliberately generous because a lifted vehicle is never at a convenient height. It is at whatever height suits the job being done above it. A stand with a narrow range forces you to move the vehicle to suit the stand, which on a two-post lift means interrupting the work and re-checking the lift points. Height is set by a hardened ACME screw driven by a quick-adjust spin handle running on a thrust bearing. The thread form is the point: an ACME thread is square-shouldered and coarse, so it carries load down its flanks rather than trying to wedge itself apart, and it does not back off under vibration the way a fine vee thread can. The thrust bearing is what makes the handle turn easily with weight already on the pad — without it, fine adjustment under load is a two-handed fight. The pad, and what it protects The top carries a thick rubber adjustable pad. It does two jobs at once. It spreads the contact so the stand is not pressing a steel point into a gearbox casing, a sump rail or an exhaust flange, and it grips, so the component does not creep across a bare metal top as its balance shifts. The pad's adjustability lets you match the contact angle to whatever you are actually supporting, which matters when the underside of a car offers very few flat, square surfaces. Light enough to be used, strong enough to be trusted At 36 lbs. (16 kg) the stand is a one-person carry. A support that is awkward to move gets left in the corner, and the job gets done on a jack instead. Heavy-steel construction and a wide base give it the stability the load needs, while the weight keeps it something a technician will actually fetch. Perfect For Transmission and drivetrain work on a car raised on a two-post lift, where a gearbox has to be held in position while it is unbolted. Exhaust replacement, holding a long system in alignment while the hangers are fitted. General repair shops that need a second point of support when removing a heavy component shifts the vehicle's balance. Advanced home garages with a lift installed and jobs that have outgrown a trolley jack. What's in the Box The RJS-1TF jack stand itself, with the foot pedal mechanism, the hardened ACME screw, the quick-adjust spin handle and the adjustable rubber pad fitted. The listing describes a single stand. Most of the jobs described above are done with a pair, so check your quantity before you check out. The manual and specification sheet for this stand are available in the documents linked from this page. Safety certification, stated honestly The product data behind this listing makes no third-party safety-listing or load-test claim for this stand, and we are not going to write one onto the page. That matters more here than on most products, because vehicle support equipment is exactly the category where an insurer, a fleet contract or a local jurisdiction may insist on an accredited listing, and it is also the category where the wrong assumption hurts somebody. If you are subject to that kind of requirement, ask us what documentation Ranger can supply for this model before you order, and we will get the answer rather than guess. Alongside that: never work under a vehicle supported only by stands where the lift's own locks have not been set, inspect the screw and pad before every use, and take the stand out of service if the thread is damaged. Shipping and delivery This item ships free within the lower 48 states, so there is nothing to add at checkout. Longer items like this one often travel as freight: the carrier calls to arrange a window, somebody at the address has to be able to take it off the truck, and collection from the freight terminal is available instead if that suits. Residential addresses carry a residential fee. Inspect the shipment against the paperwork before you sign and note any damage on the delivery receipt while the driver is still there. You can also collect from the pickup locations listed further down this page. Warranty Ranger publishes a written product warranty and we will send you the document that applies to this stand on request. No term is stated in the data behind this listing, so this page prints none; ask us and we will confirm it properly. One firm rule with load-bearing equipment: if the screw, pedal mechanism or base is damaged, retire the stand and speak to us — do not heat it, weld it or straighten it. A repaired jack stand is not a warranty item and it is not a safe one.
