Ranger RBJ-30TL 30-Ton Telescoping Air Bottle Jack Two stages, two ratings, one jack. The telescoping ram gives a first-stage lifting capacity of 60,000 lbs. (27,216 kg) and a second-stage capacity of 30,000 lbs. (13,607 kg). That is not marketing arithmetic — it is how a telescoping jack works, and it is the reason a single unit can start under a low frame and still reach useful height. The heavy first push happens on the fat lower stage; the extra travel comes from the narrower stage above it, at the lower rating. Understanding that split is the difference between buying this jack correctly and being disappointed by it. Plan the heaviest part of the lift for the first stage. Use the second stage for height, not for the load you would only trust to the first. A collapsed height of 6.5" is what makes it usable Capacity is easy to find. Getting a jack of this capacity under the vehicle is the hard part. The lowered height here is 6.5" (150 mm), which is what lets it go under a loaded trailer, a bus frame or a truck sitting on flat tires — the exact situations where you need a 30-ton jack in the first place and where a taller unit simply will not fit. The chassis is 12.5" (318 mm) wide and 22.5" (572 mm) long, deliberately compact so the jack fits between tandem wheels. Anyone who has tried to place a large jack between a duallie's axles knows that dimension decides whether the tool is useful or ornamental. The published raised height range is 6" - 12" (152 mm - 305 mm). Air-hydraulic operation, and the controls that matter This is an air-hydraulic jack: shop air drives a heavy-duty air motor which drives the hydraulics, so the operator is not pumping a 30-ton lift by hand. The practical effect on a fleet floor is that a lift which would take a minute of hard work takes seconds and leaves the technician fresh for the job itself. Control is by dead-man valve, meaning the jack moves only while the control is held. Release it and motion stops. On equipment this size that is the correct design: it removes the class of accident where a control is bumped, snagged or left engaged. Alongside it sits a built-in safety valve that prevents the jack from being used beyond its rated capacity — an overload does not simply fail, it is prevented. The long "T" handle positions the jack without crawling under the vehicle, and it locks in three different positions so it can be set out of the way, or angled for a tight approach, rather than left to swing. Large rubber wheels do the moving; on a shop floor with debris on it, rubber wheels roll where small hard casters stop dead. Durability, where it actually counts The telescoping ram is hardened and alloy-plated. Plating on a ram is not cosmetic — the ram passes through a seal on every stroke, and a scored or corroded ram destroys that seal, which is how most hydraulic jacks eventually die. A hard, smooth plated surface is what keeps the seal alive. The hydraulic unit is sealed against contamination and the assembly is double-sealed for service life, and the air valve carries an integrated filter, which matters because wet, dirty shop air is the other thing that kills a pneumatic tool. The saddle is heavy-duty steel, with additional lifting saddles included so the contact point can be matched to the lift point rather than approximated. One measurement to confirm with us Published figures for this jack's maximum height differ. The specification table on this page gives a raised height of 6" - 12" (152 mm - 305 mm) against a lowered height of 6.5" (150 mm), and a separate specification record gives a larger maximum height again. Each figure is attributed to its source here rather than one being picked for you. If your application depends on the top of travel rather than on the collapsed height, contact us before ordering and we will measure the jack before it ships. The capacity figures, by contrast, are consistent across every published source. Will It Fit? First-stage capacity: 60,000 lbs. (27,216 kg) Second-stage capacity: 30,000 lbs. (13,607 kg) Lowered height: 6.5" (150 mm) Chassis: 12.5" (318 mm) wide x 22.5" (572 mm) long Shipping weight: 108 lbs. (49 kg) Shipping dimensions: 28" x 15" x 11" (711 mm x 381 mm x 279 mm) You need compressed air where this jack will be used — that is the buyer's arrangement, and a jack of this type is not usable without it. Check the clearance under the vehicles you actually service against the 6.5" (150 mm) lowered height before ordering; that single measurement decides more purchases of this product than the capacity does. Perfect For Truck and trailer fleets where axle and suspension work is routine and the vehicles are loaded. Bus and coach operations needing capacity under a low, long chassis. Agricultural and construction equipment service, where lift points are heavy and awkwardly placed. Heavy commercial workshops replacing a hand-pumped jack that is slowing the bay down. What's in the Box Air-hydraulic telescoping bottle jack with hardened alloy-plated ram Heavy-duty steel saddle, plus additional lifting saddles Long "T" handle, lockable in three positions Air valve with integrated filter Dead-man control Certification, honestly Our record for this jack claims no third-party North American safety listing for lifting equipment, and we are not going to imply one. This is worth a moment's thought rather than a shrug, because lifting equipment is the category where such requirements genuinely exist: some insurers, some fleet and franchise policies, and some jurisdictions require lifting devices in a commercial facility to carry a recognised independent listing, and a manufacturer's own declaration is a different document from an independent listing. If any of that applies to your operation, confirm the requirement in writing — with us, and with whoever is asking — before you buy. And whatever the paperwork says, a jack is a lifting device and not a supporting one: crib or stand the load before anyone goes under it. Shipping and delivery This jack ships as freight within the lower 48 states at 108 lbs. (49 kg). Even at that weight it moves on a pallet rather than as a parcel, so the carrier delivers to the back of the truck and the rest is your arrangement — or you can collect from the carrier's terminal. Residential delivery carries a residential fee, quoted live at checkout. Look the pallet over before you sign: write any damage onto the delivery receipt, photograph it while the driver is still there, and contact us the same day. Warranty Ranger publishes the warranty terms for this product in the warranty document linked on this page, and that document governs. If the jack loses pressure or leaks, stop using it and call us before opening the hydraulic unit — the sealed assembly is the part the manufacturer needs to inspect, and one that has already been apart is a far weaker claim.
