Ranger RFJ-4000ALX 4,000 lb Aluminum Racing Floor Jack Four thousand pounds of capacity in a jack one person can lift into a trailer The specification that defines the Ranger RFJ-4000ALX is not its capacity. It is its mass. A steel service jack of comparable rating is a two-handed, back-straightening lift; this one weighs 56 lbs (25.4 kg), because the body is billet aluminium rather than plate steel. That single figure decides where the jack can live and what it can do — it goes in the back of a truck, it comes out at a track day, it moves between bays without a second person, and it gets carried up a step instead of dragged around one. It gives up nothing in rating to do it: 4,000 lbs (1,814.4 kg), a saddle that starts at 3.75 in (95 mm) and rises to 19 in (487 mm). That combination — light enough to be portable, low enough for a performance car, rated for a light truck — is the whole argument for buying aluminium instead of steel. Will It Fit? Four measurements, and the first one is the one that sends jacks back. Entry height. The saddle sits 3.75 in (95 mm) off the floor at its lowest. Measure the clearance under your car at the actual lift point with the car loaded as you will use it — a set of sticky tyres, a full tank and an aftermarket ride height can all take that margin away. Lift height. The saddle reaches 19 in (487 mm). Set your jack stands against that number, not against the height you would like. Reach and footprint. Overall length is 26 in (660.5 mm). The front of the body is 11.33 in (288 mm) across and the rear 12.4 in (315 mm), with the same 12.4 in (315 mm) measured across the side handles. Those widths tell you whether the jack passes between a wheel and a lift column, and the body's rear height of 6.5 in (165 mm) tells you whether it clears a low sill on the way in. Surface. Swivel casters and a single-piece front roller need a hard, flat, level floor. On gravel or a sloped driveway no jack of this type is safe, whatever its rating. Confirming the clearance and the lift points on your own vehicles is the buyer's responsibility. Send us the cars if you want a second opinion before you order — it is a faster conversation than a return. Why aluminium, and what it costs you Aluminium is not a marketing choice, it is a trade. You gain portability and you lose the ballast that a heavy steel jack uses to stay planted. Ranger's answer is to machine the body from billet rather than casting it: billet gives a denser, more consistent structure with fewer internal voids, so the walls can be thinner without becoming the weak point. In use that shows up as a jack with very little play under load — the arm tracks where it is put, and the saddle does not creep across the lift point as the car rises. The practical honesty is this: a lighter jack has to be positioned more deliberately. It will move if it is shoved. That is a habit, not a defect, and it is the price of a jack you can carry. The pump, the ram and the valve A dual-piston pump is the feature you notice within the first ten seconds. Two pistons move more fluid per stroke, so the saddle covers the empty distance between the floor and the car in a few pumps rather than a dozen. On a single lift that is convenience; across a wheel-off day at a track it is the difference between the jack being a tool and the jack being a chore. The ram is alloy-plated and the hydraulic system is double-sealed. Plating resists the pitting that eventually ruins a ram's seal surface; double sealing keeps brake dust, grit and oil mist out of the fluid. Both are service-life features rather than performance ones, and on a jack that lives in a truck bed and gets used outdoors, they are the ones that matter. An overload valve sits behind the pump and bleeds off pressure rather than letting the jack be pumped past its rating. A single-piece low-profile front roller helps the whole body track straight as it is pushed under a car, and the oversized knurled aluminium handle gives a grip that stays put with oil on your hands. Perfect For Track-day and race support, where the jack travels to the event and gets lifted in and out of a trailer by one person. Performance and tuning shops — the 3.75 in entry height is what gets it under a lowered car without ramps. Mobile technicians who carry their own lifting gear and want capacity without the weight penalty. Home garages where the jack is stored on a shelf or behind a door rather than left on the floor. A note on the model designation The description supplied with this product refers to the RFJ-4000AL and treats the RFJ-4000ALX as its equivalent. This listing is the RFJ-4000ALX. If you are matching a part number against a jack you already own, against a fleet asset register or against a service part, confirm the designation with us before ordering rather than assuming the two codes interchange — that is a five-minute check that saves a return. What's in the Box The jack ships with its handle. The copy on file does not itemise anything further — no stands, no adapter pads, no saddle covers are listed as supplied, so budget for rated jack stands separately if you do not already own a set. We have chosen not to list contents we cannot confirm; if you need the packing list before you order, ask and we will check it. If your insurer, your employer's safety programme, a racing series' technical regulations or a local inspection scheme requires lifting equipment to hold a specific independent listing, treat that as an open question and verify it against the manufacturer's documentation before you buy — ask us and we will put the request to Ranger in writing. And whatever the paperwork says: this is a lifting device, never a supporting one. Raise the car, set rated stands, lower onto them, and only then go underneath. Shipping and delivery This item ships free, so there is nothing to add at checkout. Heavier orders move by freight carrier, and freight delivery is kerbside — you need to be able to unload, or you can collect from the carrier's local terminal, which is frequently the simpler option. Delivery to a residential address carries an additional residential fee, charged once per brand on an order rather than once per item. Look the shipment over before you sign for it and record any damage on the delivery paperwork there and then; after a clean signature, a claim is a much harder conversation. Shipping is within the contiguous United States. Warranty Ranger publishes one warranty document covering its product line and we hold a copy for this model. We have not stated a term here, because the data we hold does not give one and a made-up figure on a product page helps nobody — ask us and we will send you the current document before you order. If the jack loses lift or leaks, stop using it and contact us before you strip the cylinder or the pump. A sealed hydraulic assembly that has been opened is normally outside any claim, and an intact fault is one we can act on. Product Specifications Maximum Lifting Capacity 4,000 lbs.
