Bottom Drain Kit for Pondmaster Pressurized Filters Bottom drains pull water from the pond floor rather than the surface, drawing in the suspended debris and sediment that cause water quality problems. This bottom drain kit connects to Pondmaster pressurized filter systems and routes pond floor water directly to the filter intake, improving solids capture and reducing bottom muck accumulation. It is the most effective upgrade for ponds with persistent cloudiness caused by bottom disturbance. Why Bottom Drains Outperform Surface Intakes Skimmer-only filtration removes floating debris but leaves bottom sediment untouched. Fish rooting, waterfall turbulence, and normal circulation kick that sediment back into suspension. Connecting a bottom drain routes the heaviest debris concentration directly to the filter before it can recirculate, significantly reducing filter load on the skimmer and improving overall water clarity. Compatible With Pondmaster pressurized filter systems Kit Contents Bottom drain body, valves, tubing fittings Installation Plumbed to filter intake Function Pond floor water intake for pressurized filters How to Use Install the bottom drain in the deepest area of the pond during construction or spring maintenance when water levels are low. Plumb the drain outlet to the filter intake using flexible tubing. If running alongside a skimmer, install a ball valve on each intake line so you can balance flow between the two sources. Clean the bottom drain cover monthly to prevent clogging. Ideal for new pond builds and retrofits where bottom sediment is a persistent water quality issue. Compatible with Pondmaster pressurized filter systems.
