BioMatrix Biological Filter Media for ClearGuard Filters, 300-Piece Set Beneficial bacteria need surface area to colonize, and the more surface area your filter provides, the more ammonia and nitrite it can process. This 300-piece BioMatrix biomedia set is designed specifically for Pondmaster ClearGuard pressurized filters, providing the high-porosity plastic surface area that supports large, stable bacterial populations. Add to the existing media chamber to expand biological capacity, or use to refresh a depleted media bed. How BioMatrix Media Works Each piece is formed with a porous, textured surface that bacteria colonize and hold through flow fluctuations. The irregular structure protects bacterial colonies from shear forces during backwash cycles, maintaining biological filtration performance between cleanings. The 300-piece set is sized to fill or supplement a standard ClearGuard media chamber. Quantity 300 pieces Media Type High-porosity plastic biomedia Compatible With Pondmaster ClearGuard pressurized filter series Function Biological filtration (ammonia and nitrite processing) How to Use Rinse new media in pond water before adding to the filter chamber. Do not rinse in tap water, chlorine kills the bacteria you are trying to establish. Add to the biological media compartment and allow 4 to 6 weeks for full bacterial colonization. During this period, monitor ammonia and nitrite and expect reduced biological performance. Never replace all media at once on an established filter. Ideal for ClearGuard filter systems where biological capacity needs to be expanded or aging media refreshed to improve ammonia processing.
