Extension & Interconnection Extending existing solar panel leads or interconnecting multiple panels with MC4 connectors. Robust Design & Certifications These Photonic Universe solar cables feature a robust design for long-term outdoor reliability. The 120°C XLPE insulation and jacket material provides excellent resistance to heat, UV, and weathering, ensuring durability in harsh environments. The cables are TUV certified, confirming they meet stringent safety and performance standards for photovoltaic systems. Common Questions What is the advantage of 6.0mm² cable? A 6.0mm² cross-section cable offers lower resistance compared to thinner cables, which minimises power loss over distance and allows for higher current carrying capacity. This is crucial for maintaining efficiency in solar PV systems, especially with higher power panels or longer cable runs. Are these cables suitable for outdoor use? Yes, these cables are designed with 120°C XLPE insulation and jacket material, providing excellent resistance to UV, ozone, and extreme temperatures from -40°C to +90°C. This makes them highly suitable for permanent outdoor solar installations in the UK climate. Can I cut these cables to a shorter length? While technically possible, it is generally recommended to use cables of the appropriate length to avoid unnecessary connections or wastage. If cutting is necessary, ensure proper tools and techniques are used for stripping and re-terminating with suitable MC4 connectors to maintain safety and weatherproofing. What is TUV certification? TUV certification indicates that the product has been tested and found to comply with relevant safety and quality standards set by TÜV Rheinland, a globally recognised independent testing and certification body. For solar cables, this confirms their reliability and suitability for photovoltaic applications. Installation Notes Ensure MC4 connectors are fully seated and locked to maintain waterproof integrity. Avoid sharp bends or excessive pulling on the cables during installation to prevent damage to insulation. Route cables to minimise exposure to direct mechanical stress or potential abrasion points. For optimal performance, match cable cross-section to your system's current requirements and cable run length. Before You Buy Verify the required cable length for your specific solar panel array layout. Confirm compatibility with your existing solar panel's MC4 connectors. Consider the total current and voltage of your system to ensure the 6.0mm² cable is appropriate. Consult a qualified electrician or solar installer if unsure about system design or installation. Always verify product specifications and compatibility with your specific solar PV system requirements before purchase. E&OE.
