100% Safe & Natural approach to Algae Control. Nualgi is a highly concentrated liquid selection of micro-nutrients on a nano silica base that feed diatom algae. Diatom algae are a silica-based, naturally occurring algae that use the nutrients in a pond or lake so that cellulose-based green and blue-green algae cannot thrive. Diatoms are clear and not visible, and are consumed by zooplankton, which in turn serves as food for fish. Nualgi works well in combination with beneficial bacteria such as Microbe-Lift PL. Dosage: 1ml per 1,000 gallons diluted in 100ml of water, applied once a week. 60ml (Treats 60,000 gallons) 125ml (Treats 125,000 gallons) 250ml (Treats 250,000 gallons) 500ml (Treats 500,000 gallons) 1L (Treats 2,000,000 gallons) Important Note: Nualgi cannot be used with UV lights, ionizers, or algaecides as they kill the diatom algae. Benefits of Using Nualgi Ponds When you supplement your regular maintenance with Nualgi Ponds, you will be able to: WATCH YOUR POND FLOURISH – Nualgi Ponds will significantly improve water quality as well as the health of fish and plants. For many eutrophic ponds, results may be visible by the afternoon of the first dose – starting with the bubbling up of oxygen, elimination of odor, and Blue Green Algae crashing and floating to the surface. SEE MORE – By reducing nuisance algae growth, Nualgi Ponds improves water clarity and visibility to reveal more of the pond’s environment and its inhabitants. FEED LESS – By restoring missing nutrients, Nualgi Ponds brings balance to the natural marine food chain from the bottom up by promoting the growth of diatoms and zooplankton – free food for your fish and shrimp! SHOW IT OFF – Enjoy peace of mind knowing that your pond is healthy, clear, and odor-free. Friends and guests will be impressed, and we won’t tell them how easy it was to restore the natural beauty of your pond. What is Nualgi Ponds? Nualgi is a liquid additive containing 12 essential nutrients on a nano silica base to restore balance, improve water quality, and control nuisance algae in your pond. Nano silica is both a nutrient and a carrier that prevents the nutrients from reacting with each other. Unlike traditional additives, Nualgi’s nano-scale (measuring 5-100 nm) nutrients remain suspended for longer, disperse easily across the water column, and are therefore "bio-available" to marine organisms. How Does Nualgi Ponds Work? Upon application of Nualgi Ponds, the Nano Silica base carries 12 essential nutrients to Diatom Algae, which start to multiply, consuming Nitrogen and Phosphorous (from leftover fish food and fish waste), and robbing the nuisance algae of these nutrients. Diatoms release O2 and consume CO2, thus increasing the dissolved oxygen levels. Higher DO levels help aerobic bacteria break down organic matter. Diatoms are also the favorite food for Zooplankton, whose population grows exponentially in the pond. Zooplankton, in turn, are consumed by fish, thus completing the food chain. Frequently Asked Questions When Should I Start Seeing the Effects of Using Nualgi Ponds? For particularly bad cases of algae, results might be visible within hours. In extreme cases, the pond may appear worse before it gets better. If you don’t notice any effects at least a week later, please contact us. How Do I Dose Nualgi Ponds in the Spring and Fall? Follow the dosing on the label, adjusting based on water temperature: 5°C - 10°C – Dose once a month 10°C - 15°C – Dose once every two weeks 15°C + – Dose once a week as suggested by instructions Is Nualgi Ponds Safe for Koi and Other Fish? Yes, Nualgi Ponds is beneficial to all aquatic life including Koi, amphibians, and invertebrates. What is the Dosing Process and How Long Does it Take? Physically remove dead leaves, debris, and any algae you can scoop out before starting the Nualgi dose. Dilute the appropriate dose 10 times in water and pour the mixture into your pond, preferably in the morning for optimal results. Can Nualgi Ponds Be Used on Other Plant Life Around My Water Garden? Yes, Nualgi Ponds enhances the growth of your water garden by improving water quality and making micro-nutrients more available. Troubleshooting I Am Using Nualgi and Beneficial Bacteria but My Water Continues to Remain Green? Your nitrate, nitrite, and phosphate levels may be high, or you may need to increase the amount of beneficial bacteria. Contact us for assistance through our troubleshooting form. My Pond Had Cleared up with Nualgi but Now My Water Has Turned Green Again? Increase the Nualgi dose by half for 2 weeks. If conditions improve, return to the recommended dose. I Added Nualgi and Now I Have Foam on My Pond? Foam is caused by algae die-off. Remove it with a fine mesh net to prevent it from re-entering the water. Water Column is Clear but I Can't Get Rid of String Algae? String algae can take up to 16 weeks to die out when using a combination of Nualgi and beneficial bacteria. Can higher chlorine/chloramine levels in my source water (municipal or well) affect water clarity? What should I do? Yes, it impedes the nitrification process in the pond, thereby slowing down the effect of Nualgi and Bacteria that you may be dosing. If you have been treating the pond with Nualgi and beneficial bacteria, and yet find that the water is not getting clearer, one reason may be higher chlorine/chloramine levels. In such cases, please treat your pond with an efficient dechlorinator (recommend Novaqua). In cases where it has just rained, dosing dechlorinator in the pond may be prudent. The dose should be as recommended by the manufacturer.
