Some flowers only bloom in the hour before dawn. The Mist Sculptural Leather Flower Earrings are hand-sculpted from genuine raw cowhide by the FUGE artist — each petal shaped individually into a full, layered camellia bloom that seems to hold light within it. The leather is translucent at the edges, shifting from cool blue-grey to soft white as the light changes, with a warm coral centre that glows like an ember. At 5.2 cm across, these are a statement — worn with the quiet confidence of someone who does not need to announce themselves. + Read more MaterialsGenuine raw cowhide leather (hand-sculpted) · Hand-mixed artist dyes (translucent misty white with blue-grey edge gradient, warm coral centre) · Gold-tone stud post and butterfly back DimensionsDiameter: 5.2 cm / 2.05" · Depth: approx. 2.5 cm / 1"Sold as: one pair (×2) CraftsmanshipEach earring is entirely handmade using the FUGE leather sculpture technique — a process of wetting, shaping, and setting raw cowhide into three-dimensional forms without moulds. FUGE was founded in 2009 and is widely regarded as the originator of the leather sculpture flower jewellery craft in China. The translucent quality of the Mist earrings is achieved through a combination of fine-grain cowhide selection and a layered dyeing process that preserves the leather’s natural translucency. The blue-grey edge gradient is hand-painted petal by petal; no two pairs are identical. Despite their size, leather is a naturally lightweight material and the earrings sit comfortably on the earlobe. Will my earrings look exactly like the photos? The dyes used in all FUGE pieces are hand-mixed by the artist before each application. Even within the same colourway, subtle variations in the blue-grey gradient and the depth of the coral centre occur between batches. These variations are inherent to the handmade process and are part of what makes each pair unique. Is genuine leather used?Yes. All FUGE pieces are made from genuine first-layer cowhide, individually selected by experienced artisans. The translucent quality of the Mist earrings requires particularly fine-grain leather — only a small portion of each hide meets the standard required for this design. Are these earrings heavy to wear?Despite their 5.2 cm diameter, leather is a naturally lightweight material. The Mist earrings weigh approximately 5–7g per piece, making them comfortable for extended wear. The stud post sits securely on the earlobe without pulling. Is this suitable as a gift?Absolutely. The Mist earrings arrive in elegant packaging and make a beautiful gift for those who appreciate wearable art — particularly for summer occasions, garden parties, or anyone drawn to a poetic, nature-inspired aesthetic. + Craftsmanship Notes All dyes used in FUGE leather sculpture pieces are hand-mixed and hand-painted by the artist. Due to the nature of the dyes, even the same design in the same colourway must be freshly mixed before each application — resulting in subtle colour variations between batches. The translucent quality of the Mist earrings is particularly sensitive to the natural oil content of each hide: some pairs will appear cooler and more blue-grey, others warmer and more white. Colour may also appear differently across various lighting conditions and screen displays. These variations are inherent to this craft and are part of what makes each pair unique.
