Product Description The Matala Bio-Steps 10 gravity filter maximizes Matala® filter media performance. Matala Bio-Steps Filters feature the latest generation of filter media. This lightweight, versatile product is made of curly fibre thermo-polypropylene compounds and is non-toxic to the environment. The rugged Bio-Steps 10 contains an amazing 200 sq.ft. of surface area for beneficial bacteria growth. Combined with a cross flow design that traps and processes more debris at high flow rates, you get unparalleled mechanical and biological filtration for superior water quality. Combine multiple units for large or heavily stocked koi ponds. Universal barbed inlet (1", 1-1/4", 1-1/2"), 1-1/2" outlet. For ponds up to 2,700 gallons, step-wise transition from mechanical filtration to high-efficiency bio filtration. shown with optional UVC UVC currently not available shown with optional UVC UVC currently not available Bio-Steps 10 has 6 sections each with its own function: Filter Section Contents Function 1 Inlet Chamber Water inlet - capture of largest particles 2 Medium Density Matala Prefiltration: To capture particles and to further digest organic matter by heterotrophic bacteria and plankton 3 High Density Matala Biofiltration: Nitrification/nutrient balancing by plankton 4 Super High Density Matala Biofiltration: Nitrification/nutrient balancing by plankton 5 Super High Density Matala Biofiltration: Nitrification, denitrification and nutrient balancing by plankton 6 Outlet Chamber Water polishing - water outlet Product Features State of the art progressive filtration Includes 8 Matala filter mats with progressive densities Filter design enhances growth of different ecological communities of bacteria and planktonic organisms that will colonize different sections of the filter Cross-flow pattern: Traps more dirt at high flow rates without plugging Built-in overflow safety Easy maintenance Sloped bottom with built-in sludge drain Rugged construction Modular design allows for future expansion 1-year warranty Product Specifications Bio-Steps 10 Maximum Effective Pond Volume for Decorative Ponds (gallons) 2,400 Maximum Effective Pond Volume for Ponds with Goldfish or Koi (gallons) 1,200 Maximum Flow Rate (GPH) 1,200 Inlet Size 1", 1-1/4" and 1-1/2" barbed (multi-step hosetail) Discharge Size 1-1/2" bulkhead fitting Dimensions (L x W x H) 23.2" x 12.4" x 20.2"
