Lunira is hand tufted in New Zealand Wool, with an irregular, non-rectangular outline that breaks from a standard four-sided rug shape.Product Details Construction: Hand Tufted Material: New Zealand Wool Pile: Hand-tufted Colour: White Style: Contemporary Shape: Irregular Made in: Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, India The irregular silhouette gives Lunira a sculptural presence that a standard rectangle doesn't have — it reads as a deliberate design object rather than a floor covering, which is why it works best as a single statement piece rather than a wall-to-wall fill. The white colourway keeps it versatile enough to sit against most wall colours and furniture finishes.Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat is a hand-tufted rug, and how is it made?Wool is punched through a stretched canvas backing by hand using a tufting gun, following a pre-drawn design. A layer of latex is applied underneath to lock the fibres in place, then a fabric backing is added for stability. How do I place an irregular-shaped rug?Best used as a standalone accent — under a reading chair, beside a bed, or as a sculptural layer over a larger neutral rug — rather than centred under a full furniture grouping. Is shedding normal on a new hand-tufted rug?Yes — some loose fibre shedding in the first few months is normal and settles down with regular vacuuming. How do I clean and maintain it?Regular vacuum cleaning is the main care this rug needs — use suction only, without a rotating brush or beater bar. Blot spills immediately with a dry cloth rather than rubbing.
