Cool-Vent is a venting composite insulation board that consists of a 4'x8' panel of closed cell rigid polyisocyanurate, a middle layer of solid wood spacers, creating a standard 1" air space and a top layer of APA/TECO rated OSB or plywood. Cool-Vent is the environmentally intelligent choice for steep slope roofing applications and is viable in green and sustainable building designs. Hunter Cool-Vent is a high-performance roof insulation panel designed to provide continuous insulation, ventilation, and a nailable surface in a single, easy-to-install component. Each panel features rigid polyiso foam bonded to 7/16" oriented strand board (OSB) with a 1" ventilated air space—ideal for steep slope roofing systems. Key Features Polyiso foam core for superior R-value and thermal efficiency Factory-laminated 7/16" OSB provides a structural nailing surface Integral 1" air space promotes ventilation under roofing materials Reduces heat buildup and extends roof life Compatible with shingles, metal roofing, and other steep-slope systems Simplifies installation with fewer components and faster setup Panel Thickness Foam Thickness Panel Size Sheets / Pallet Coverage / Pallet 2.5 in 1 in 4 ft x 8 ft 19 608 sq ft 3 in 1.5 in 4 ft x 8 ft 16 512 sq ft 3.5 in 2 in 4 ft x 8 ft 13 416 sq ft 4 in 2.5 in 4 ft x 8 ft 12 384 sq ft 4.1 in 2.6 in 4 ft x 8 ft 11 352 sq ft 4.5 in 3 in 4 ft x 8 ft 10 320 sq ft 5 in 3.5 in 4 ft x 8 ft 9 288 sq ft Applications Ideal for cathedral ceilings and steep-slope roofs Residential and commercial buildings requiring ventilated roof assemblies Energy-efficient roofing systems in all climate zones
