Common Questions What is MPPT technology and why is it important? MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) technology allows the charge controller to find the optimal voltage and current at which solar panels produce maximum power. This results in significantly higher energy harvest compared to traditional PWM controllers, especially in varying weather conditions or when matching higher voltage panels to lower voltage battery banks. Can this controller be used with lithium batteries? Yes, the Photonic Universe XTR1210N is fully compatible with LiFePO4 lithium batteries and includes a dedicated charging mode. It also supports sealed, flooded, and gel lead-acid batteries, with a "User-Defined" option for custom charging parameters. How do I monitor my solar system with this controller? The controller features built-in Bluetooth for monitoring and control via a free mobile app. It also has an integrated LCD screen for real-time data. For advanced insights, you can connect an optional remote meter (MT52), a Wi-Fi module, or link directly to a PC/laptop using an RJ45 to USB cable and the free Solar Station Monitor software. What size solar panel can I connect to this 10A controller? For a 12V battery system, you can connect solar panels up to 130W. For a 24V battery system, it supports solar panels up to 260W. The maximum open-circuit voltage (Voc) of your solar array should not exceed 100V. Installation Notes Ensure adequate ventilation around the controller to prevent overheating. Connect the battery first, then the solar panels, and finally the load. Disconnect in reverse order. Use appropriate cable gauges (up to 4mm²) for all connections to minimise voltage drop and ensure safety. Mount the controller in a dry, protected location away from direct sunlight and moisture. For optimal performance and safety, consider professional installation. Before You Buy Verify your battery bank voltage (12V or 24V) matches the controller's auto-detection capability. Confirm your total solar panel power (in Watts) does not exceed 130W for 12V systems or 260W for 24V systems. Check the open-circuit voltage (Voc) of your solar array; it must be below 100V. Consider your battery type and ensure it is compatible with the controller's pre-set or user-defined charging modes. Plan for any additional accessories like remote meters or Wi-Fi modules if advanced monitoring is desired. Please verify all specifications and compatibility requirements before purchase. Professional installation is recommended for optimal performance and safety. Your purchase is backed by a 1-year warranty.
