These 5-litre glass demijohns are perfect for both the fermentation and storage of wines, beers and meads. Crafted from high-quality, durable glass, they offer a clear view of your brewing process, allowing you to monitor the development of your brews with ease. The substantial 5-litre capacity makes them ideal for medium-sized batches, providing ample space for fermentation while ensuring optimal conditions for your brews to mature. Designed with both function and convenience in mind, these demijohns feature a sturdy carry handle, making it simple to transport your creations from one place to another. Whether you’re moving your batch to a secondary fermenter or simply rearranging your storage area, the handle provides a secure grip, reducing the risk of spills and breakage. This thoughtful design ensures that your brewing and storing process is as smooth and hassle-free as possible. In addition to their practical uses in brewing, these demijohns are also excellent for storing finished liquors. Their airtight seal helps to preserve the quality and flavour of your brews, preventing oxidation and contamination. With these demijohns, you can confidently store and showcase your crafted beverages with both style and practicality. An airlock and rubber bung for a demijohn are crucial components in the fermentation process, designed to allow gases produced during fermentation to escape while preventing outside air and contaminants from entering the vessel. The rubber bung is inserted into the neck of the demijohn, creating an airtight seal, while the airlock, which is fitted into the bung, contains a small amount of water. As fermentation gases build up, they pass through the airlock’s water barrier and bubble out, ensuring that the internal environment remains anaerobic and free from unwanted microorganisms. This setup not only protects the integrity of the fermenting beverage but also allows brewers and winemakers to monitor fermentation activity visually through the bubbles, making it an essential tool for both hobbyists and professionals. This kit also contains a length of pipe to use when transferring liquids from one container to another. Please note, the glass should not be subjected to excessive thermal shocks, as too great a difference in temperature could damage it. It is recommended to wash the glass in lukewarm water with disinfectants prior to use. Always handle glass with care, do not solely rely on handle for transport especially when container is full.Set includes: 6 x Demijohn 5L plain 6 x Bung 6 x Airlock Syphon tube Dedicated box and packing
