Antique Wooden Duck Decoy Folk Art Hand Carved Shooting Decoy An authentic antique hand carved wooden duck decoy with exceptional original surface and strong evidence of historic use. This example displays a beautifully weathered patina, with extensive age wear, original paint remnants, and natural surface erosion developed over many decades. The form is particularly pleasing, with an elegant raised head, elongated bill, and smoothly shaped body, reflecting traditional working decoy construction. The head is carved separately and fitted into the body, a standard method in early decoy manufacture. The surface shows extensive historic shot marks across the body and head, along with old woodworm holes from its long working life. The woodworm is historic and inactive, and the piece has been professionally treated as a precaution. These features contribute to its authenticity and desirable untouched character. The underside retains its original weighted keel, confirming its use as a functional decoy. The combination of sculptural form, honest wear, and original surface makes this a highly desirable example of British folk art and traditional sporting antiques. ConditionAntique condition with heavy age-related wear throughout. Extensive historic shot marks, paint loss, surface wear, cracking, and historic woodworm holes. The woodworm is no longer active and the piece has been treated. Head secure and stable. Original weighted keel present. Structurally sound and displays beautifully.
