Diesel Bad Eau de Toilette 50ml is a confident, slightly subversive woody fragrance for men, launched in 2016 and signed by perfumers Anne Flipo and Carlos Benaïm. A bright, herbaceous opening of lavender, bergamot, cardamom and violet leaf leads into an unexpected heart of caviar, orris root and sage, before settling into a long-wearing base of tobacco, woody notes, ambroxan, tonka bean and patchouli — described by the perfumers as "a game of seduction". About Diesel Diesel was founded in 1978 by Renzo Rosso in Molvena, northern Italy, and grew into one of the most influential casualwear and denim brands of the late 20th century. The brand's fragrances, produced under licence by L'Oréal, channel that rebellious, slightly provocative attitude into perfumery; Bad extends the brand's masculine line into a darker, more grown-up evening register, presented in a hexagonal-cut flacon with a black "Diesel chrome" cap. Fragrance notes Top: Lavender, Bergamot, Cardamom, Violet Leaf Heart: Caviar, Orris Root, Sage Base: Tobacco, Woody Notes, Ambroxan, Tonka Bean, Patchouli Olfactory family: Woody Aromatic | Launched: 2016 | Perfumers: Anne Flipo, Carlos Benaïm Who it's for Diesel Bad suits men looking for a confident, evening-leaning daily signature with a smoky tobacco-and-tonka drydown. The composition is at its best in autumn and winter, ideal for date-night, dinner and casual evening contexts, and pairs naturally with smart-casual or leather-jacket dressing. Anyone drawn to fragrances such as Yves Saint Laurent La Nuit de l'Homme or Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille (lighter chapter) will recognise the territory. How to wear it Spray onto pulse points — the inner wrists, sides of the neck and chest — from around 15 cm away. Apply to clean, moisturised skin straight after a shower for the longest wear. Two to three sprays balance well; the tobacco-and-patchouli drydown develops over the first hour and rewards a moderate, considered hand.
