The D-D Professional Complete 48W UV Unit is a professional and high-performance steriliser which offers an equivalent to the 96W UV Unit. Its clever design produces a radiation intensity of 30,000 microwatts/sec/sq.cm and is capable of destroying the most common pathogens found in fresh and saltwater aquariums. The unit is designed for use on aquariums up to 2400 litres in size.As the most effective way to sterilise water, the device releases no chemicals, eradicating the risk of overdosing. Sterilisation results produced by the 48W UV Unity is instantaneous, using a highly concentrated UV-C which exerts a lethal effect on living pathogens. By alternating the genetic material of pathogens, thus inhabiting their reproduction abilities, the germicidal properties found within the UV-C of the 48W UV Unit is capable of destroying viruses, protozoa, algae, yeasts, bacteria and mould spores. The unique 48W UV Unit has been developed with a quartz sleeve between the water and the bulb. The bulb is created from quartz also to increase its transmission rate. The Professional Complete 48W UV Unit produces approximately twice as much UV-C per unit than that of a conventional glass bulb unit. The product also includes an electronic Ballast for flicker free operation, doubling the bulb life, a reinforced UV resistant plastic body to prevent degradation with time and a viton gasket for a long term UV resistant seal.Key Features: 48W UV unit which produces twice as much UV-C per unit than a standard glass bulb unit Suitable for fresh and saltwater aquariums Reef System - (1-2 times turnover per hour) - 1200 to 2400 litres. Fish System - (2-4 times turnover per hour) - 600 to 1200 litres. Offers an equivalent to the 96W UV Unit Radiation intensity of 33,000 microwatts/sec/sw.cm High intensity quartz bulb with ceramic cap for good thermal insulation Destroys the most common pathogens, viruses, protozoa, algae, yeasts, bacteria and mould spores. Electronic Ballast for flicker free operation, doubling the bulb life. Max flow rate 2400ltrs/hr Pure Quartz sleeve prevents thermal shocks and maintains the lamp at the correct temperature (40-45 C) for maximum UV-C output regardless of the water temperature. Reinforced UV resistant plastic body prevents degradation with time. Single ended design and waterproof insulation to CE IP67. Allows the unit to be partially submerged in a sump thus reducing the space required for installation. Viton gasket for a long term UV resistant seal.
