Corghi Pro324 Tilt-Back Tire Changer test Automatic tire changer for cars, lightweight transport vehicles and motor vehicles One chuck, two speeds, and why that is the whole argument A tire changer's rotation speed is a compromise between the part of the cycle where speed is money and the part where speed is damage. The PRO324 refuses the compromise: chuck rotation is quoted as 7 RPM in standard mode and 6.5-13 RPM in two-velocity mode. In practice that means you can run the routine portion of a mount or demount at the quick setting and drop to the slow one for the quarter-turn where the bead is crossing the rim flange — the moment that actually decides whether a rim gets marked or a bead gets damaged. A single-speed machine forces you to pick which of those two jobs it is good at. Around that chuck is a fully automatic tilt-back column built for passenger cars, light transport vehicles and motorcycles, with a bead breaker blade rated at 15000 N. The tilt-back column The column tilts back away from the wheel rather than staying upright over it. Two things follow. The obvious one is access: with the column out of the way, the technician can get to the wheel and the tool from a natural working position instead of reaching around a post. The less obvious one is damage prevention — a column that moves clear reduces the chance of the tool head contacting the rim or the tire while the assembly is being positioned, which is where marks tend to appear on machines that are otherwise gentle. Ergonomically it also matters over a full day. Tire work is repetitive, and the difference between a good and a bad posture on each cycle compounds into fatigue by the afternoon. Fatigue is what produces the mistake on wheel number sixty. The bead breaker Bead-breaking power at the blade is 15000 N, with a bead-breaker opening the specification table gives as 14.96" (380mm). That opening figure is worth reading carefully, because it is what determines whether a wide assembly will actually accept the blade — a bead breaker that cannot open far enough is a bead breaker you cannot use, regardless of the force behind it. The force number matters most on the tires that resist: reinforced sidewalls, run-flats, and anything that has been on the rim through several winters and effectively bonded itself to the seat. Noise level running is quoted at less than 70 dB. That is not a vanity specification in a small shop, where a machine that makes conversation impossible changes how the whole bay works. Two figures to confirm before you order Two specifications are published twice with different values. Both are set out below, each attributed to its source: Specification Specification table Manufacturer description Maximum wheel diameter 43" (1100mm) 43.3" (1100 mm) Bead-breaker opening 14.96" (380mm) 15" (380 mm) Both look like rounding rather than a real difference — the metric figures are identical in each row, which is the giveaway. Both are printed here as published all the same. If a wheel you service is within a fraction of either limit, contact us and we will confirm the value from the manufacturer's documentation before you order. Will It Fit? Maximum dimensions are 39.37" H x 45.28" L x 36.22" D. Net weight is 562 lbs (255 kg) and gross shipping weight is 650 lbs (295 kg) — the second figure is the one that governs your delivery arrangements, the first the one that governs your floor. The power unit is listed as 115V / 60 Hz / 1 PH, and working air pressure is 8 - 10 Bar (116 to 145 psi). Motor power is given as 0.85 kW - 1.1 kW, which the manufacturer's description states as 1.1 hp to 1.47 hp. Confirm two things against your own building before ordering, both of which are the customer's responsibility: that your compressor genuinely delivers within that pressure band at the machine's inlet under load, and that you have a dedicated single-phase circuit within reach of where the machine will stand. Capacity Inside clamping capacity is 13 inches to 26 inches (330-660 mm) and outside clamping capacity is 11 inches to 24 inches (279-610 mm). Tire width is quoted at 3 inches to 14 inches (76-355 mm). Between them those figures cover the mainstream of passenger, light truck and motorcycle work; the tire width band in particular is what tells you whether wide fitments are in scope, and it is worth measuring a representative assembly rather than assuming. Perfect For Busy tire bays that need the fast chuck setting on volume work and the slow one on alloys. Workshops servicing motorcycles alongside cars, which the machine is specified for. Shops with tight ceilings — a tilt-back column has a lower working envelope than a fixed post. Operations troubled by stubborn beads, where 15000 N at the blade is the deciding factor. What's in the Box The listing describes the fully automatic tilt-back column, the blade bead breaker and the two-velocity chuck as part of the machine. An HTB24 helper assist arm is described as an optional accessory for stiff-bead work and is not included. Cones, adapters and protective inserts are not itemised anywhere in the product data, so ask us for the packing list before you plan around a specific accessory. Confident copy is very good at making a reader assume a badge that was never mentioned, so we are saying it explicitly instead. That is not the same as saying no approval exists — only that none is on file with us. Where an insurer, a fleet standard or a local rule requires documented approval for workshop equipment, ask us to obtain the manufacturer's paperwork before you commit, and verify the requirement at its source. Shipping and Delivery Shipping is by LTL freight within the lower 48 states, quoted live at checkout against your address at a gross weight of 650 lbs (295 kg). Decide in advance how the crate leaves the trailer — forklift, dock, or a terminal collection you arrange with the carrier. Deliveries to residential addresses carry a residential fee, which appears at checkout rather than afterwards. Inspect the crate before you sign the bill of lading and write down anything you find while the driver is present; a clean signature on damaged freight is the single most expensive mistake at this stage. Warranty The warranty term for this model is not stated in the listing and we have not invented one — ask us and we will confirm the manufacturer's coverage in writing before you buy. Our claims procedure is set out on the warranty claims page. Independently of the term: if a component fails, leave it assembled. Photograph the fault, register the claim, and only then let anyone open it. Disassembly before a claim is opened is the usual reason a valid one gets declined. Product Specifications Max.
