Corghi PU1500 Pneumatic Power Unit The PU1500 is a bead-breaking assist that mounts directly onto a tire changer you already own, and the single most consequential thing about it is what it does not need: an electrical connection. It is fully pneumatic. Everything it does is driven by shop air, which means fitting one is a mechanical job and a hose, not a conduit run, a breaker and an electrician's visit. For a workshop that wants more bead-breaking capability without rebuilding a bay, that distinction is the whole proposition. Why fully pneumatic matters more than it sounds Retrofit accessories usually fail on installation cost rather than purchase price. An add-on that needs power turns into a conversation about where the supply comes from, whether the circuit is adequate, and who is allowed to do the work. A tire bay is also a poor environment for added electrical infrastructure — it is wet, it is full of conductive debris, and it gets washed down. A unit that runs on the air line you already have avoids that class of problem entirely, and it avoids the safety questions that come with putting more electrical connections near standing water. It also means the unit is as portable as its mounting allows. Operating pressure is listed as 10 bar, and the unit weighs 105.8 lbs (48 kg). What it actually does The PU1500 provides a pneumatic bead breaker delivering a force on the roller of 7000 N. That is aimed squarely at the tires standard equipment struggles with: extra low profile, run-flat and PAX wheels. Those constructions are engineered specifically to resist deformation with no air in them — that is the point of a run-flat — and the same property that lets a car limp home on a flat is the property that makes the bead refuse to release on a changer. A roller-type assist applies force progressively around the bead rather than as a single blow, which is what protects the sidewall of a tire you intend to remount. The unit is designed for installation directly on the tire changer, preferably on the left-hand side, and the listing states it can be fitted to either tilting column or swinging arm machines. Check fitment before you order This is the part to be careful about. The product data says the unit suits tilting column or swinging arm tire changers, but it gives no compatibility list, no mounting dimensions and no bolt pattern. That is not enough information to guarantee it will bolt onto your machine. Tell us the exact make and model of your tire changer and we will confirm fitment against the manufacturer's documentation before you buy. An assist unit that does not mount is worth nothing, and this is a five-minute question to settle in advance. The accessories Three independent accessories can be added to the PU1500, each addressing a specific difficulty rather than being a general upgrade: a bead presser and rim clamping kit, a bead lifter kit, and a PAX SYSTEM wheel kit. The bead presser and clamping kit help hold the bead seated where it should be while the rest of the tire is worked; the bead lifter kit assists in raising the bead during mounting and demounting; the PAX kit is specific to PAX wheels, which need dedicated handling because of how they are constructed. They are described as independent, so you can buy only what your workload actually requires. Perfect For Shops meeting run-flats regularly whose existing changer is otherwise perfectly adequate. Workshops without spare electrical capacity in the tire bay, where an air-only accessory is the only practical option. Performance and low-profile specialists handling extra low profile fitments daily. Operations extending the life of a good changer rather than replacing a machine that still works. What's in the Box The listing describes the pneumatic power unit itself with its roller bead breaker, for direct installation onto a tire changer. The bead presser and rim clamping kit, the bead lifter kit and the PAX SYSTEM wheel kit are all separate accessories and are not included. No mounting hardware, hoses or fittings are itemised — ask us for the packing list along with the fitment confirmation. Specifications Model PU1500 Bead breaker force on roller 7000 N Operation Pneumatic — no electrical connection Operating pressure 10 bar Weight 105.8 lbs (48 kg) Mounting Directly on the tire changer, preferably left-hand side Certification, stated plainly No certification, approval or third-party listing is claimed for the PU1500 in its product data, and this page does not name one. We would rather state the absence than let a reader infer a badge from the tone of the writing. It is not a claim that no approval exists — only that none is on file here. If an insurer or a local requirement asks you for documented approval covering shop equipment of this type, ask us for the manufacturer's paperwork before you commit. Shipping and Delivery The PU1500 ships to the lower 48 states, with the cost calculated at checkout for your address rather than estimated. At 105.8 lbs (48 kg) it is heavy enough to need a plan for getting it off the truck and onto a bench — one person should not attempt it alone. Where the shipment moves by freight, a residential delivery address carries a residential fee, shown at checkout. Whatever the delivery method, open and inspect the packaging before signing, and note any damage on the paperwork with the driver present; a signature on undamaged-looking packaging makes a later claim considerably harder. Warranty The warranty term for this unit is not stated in the listing and we have not supplied one from elsewhere — ask us and we will confirm the manufacturer's coverage in writing before you order. The store's process is on our warranty claims page. If the unit fails, do not open the cylinder or the valve block before the claim is registered. Photograph the fault, contact us, and leave it assembled; a disassembled component is usually an unclaimable one. Contact us for more Corghi Pneumatic Power Unit Information.
