Corghi PL60 Entry Level Wheel Balancer The characteristic way an inexpensive wheel balancer lets a shop down is not dramatic. It does not stop working — it drifts. Calibration slips a little at a time, the machine keeps producing confident numbers, and nobody discovers the problem until a customer comes back with a vibration that a correctly balanced wheel should not have. The PL60's answer is self-diagnosis and self-calibration: it checks itself and re-zeros itself automatically, which keeps accuracy from quietly eroding between service visits. On an entry-level machine that is the feature that decides whether it is a bargain or a liability. Around that, it is a straightforward digital balancer for passenger cars and light trucks, built for service centres, tire shops and small workshops. Self-calibration, and why it earns its place here Calibration on a balancer is not a one-off event. Every mounting, every heavy wheel, every knock against the shaft nudges it. A machine that can verify and correct its own reference removes the two failure modes that actually occur in small shops: nobody remembers to calibrate, and nobody notices when it has drifted. It also removes a scheduling problem — a self-calibrating balancer does not need a technician's visit booked to stay trustworthy. Self-diagnosis works on the same principle applied to faults rather than accuracy. Rather than producing a wrong reading, the machine tells you something is wrong, which is a much cheaper way to find out. Manual entry, done well Wheel dimensions are entered manually on the PL60, and it is worth being direct about that rather than dressing it up: this is a machine that asks the technician for the rim diameter and width instead of measuring them itself. On a small workshop's workload that is a reasonable trade — automatic acquisition costs money and adds a sensor arm to go out of adjustment — but it does mean the accuracy of the result depends on the accuracy of the entry. A bright digital display is what makes that workable, showing all balancing information clearly enough to check what was typed before the wheel spins. Rim diameter is accepted from 10 inches to 24 inches (254-610mm) and rim width from 1.5 inches to 20 inches (38-508 mm), which covers the overwhelming majority of passenger vehicles, SUVs and light trucks a general shop sees. Balancing programs The PL60 offers DYNAMIC and STATIC modes plus three ALU programs. That set is not padding. Dynamic balancing corrects in two planes and is the default for a normal wheel; static balancing corrects in one and is what a narrow wheel or certain motorcycle applications need. The three ALU programs exist because alloy wheels do not have a flat outer flange to hang a clip weight on, so the machine has to be told where the adhesive weights are actually going to sit. Choosing the wrong program on an alloy wheel is one of the most common ways a technically correct balance still comes back as a complaint. Rotation speed is 200 RPM with an average measurement time of 7 Seconds, and the maximum unbalance value is 999g / 35.3 Oz with an accuracy of +/- 1g. Resolving to a single gram is finer than the increments most weights are supplied in, which means the machine stops being the limiting factor and the technician's weight selection becomes the constraint. Will It Fit? The PL60 measures 41" x 42" x 67" — the spec fields record those as 41" wide, 42" long and 67" high — and weighs 302 lbs (137 kg). Power supply is 110V / 60hz / 1ph with a power consumption of 300 W, so it runs from an ordinary single-phase circuit rather than needing anything special installed. Plan clearance in front of the shaft for presenting a wheel squarely, and above for the guard. Maximum wheel weight is 143 lb (65 kg); if you regularly handle assemblies near that, factor in how they get onto the shaft, because a 143 lb wheel lifted by hand is an injury waiting for a busy afternoon. Providing the circuit, the floor space and a level surface to stand the machine on is the customer's responsibility. Perfect For Small independent workshops taking balancing in-house instead of subletting it. Service centres needing a dependable second machine for overflow. Tire shops on a budget where self-calibration protects the investment. Mobile and satellite operations covering a mainstream passenger and light truck range. What's in the Box The listing states the machine ships with four standard cones, along with the bright digital display, manual dimension entry, self-diagnosis and self-calibration, and the DYNAMIC, STATIC and three ALU programs. Nothing else is itemised — no flange plates, no wheel lift, no calibration weight is listed — so if you depend on a specific accessory, ask us to confirm what is included before ordering. We are stating the absence rather than staying silent about it, because silence in confident copy reads like a badge. It is not an assertion that no approval exists anywhere — only that we hold no such document for this model. Where an insurer, a franchise agreement or a local rule requires documented approval for workshop equipment, ask us to obtain the manufacturer's paperwork before you buy, and confirm the requirement with the organisation imposing it. Shipping and Delivery The PL60 ships as freight within the lower 48 states, and your cost is calculated live at checkout from your own ZIP code rather than being guessed at. At 302 lbs (137 kg) you will need a means of unloading — a forklift, a dock, or an arrangement to collect from the carrier's terminal, which many small shops find simpler than waiting for a delivery window. Residential addresses carry a residential fee, applied and displayed at checkout. Inspect the crate before signing and write any damage onto the bill of lading while the driver is still there; that record is what makes a claim winnable. Warranty No warranty term appears in this listing, and rather than guess we will confirm the manufacturer's coverage for this model in writing if you ask before ordering. Our claims process is documented on the warranty claims page. One instruction applies whatever the term: if something fails, do not disassemble it first. Photograph the symptom, register the claim with us, and keep the machine intact — taking a component apart before the claim exists is the standard way a good claim gets refused.
