Corghi A9824TI Swing Arm Tire Changer — Air or Electric The A9824TI is a swing-arm tire changer built for passenger car and light truck service, and the detail that sets it apart is something it deliberately does not do: the mount/demount head never touches the rim during operation. A locking handle parks that head away from the wheel and holds it there. On top of that, the cylinders are stainless steel and rebuildable — a machine designed to be serviced rather than replaced. Corghi's own claim for it is service speeds up to 50% faster than other tire changers in its price range. Why "the head does not touch the rim" is the spec that matters On a conventional changer the mount/demount head rides against the rim flange, and a plastic insert is the only thing between a steel tool and a customer's finish. Every insert wears, and the ones that wear fastest are on the machines that work hardest. The A9824TI positions the head clear of the rim and the locking handle keeps it there before the turntable ever moves, so the most common source of cosmetic damage claims is removed from the process instead of being managed around. It also takes the technician's touch out of the equation: the setup is mechanical, so the tenth wheel of the morning is handled exactly like the first. Behind the head, the bead-breaker blade follows the bead around the inside contour of the rim rather than punching at one point. On a stiff or cold sidewall that is the difference between a single clean pass and three attempts that each stress the bead. The heavy-duty turntable rotates in either direction, so a bead that refuses to release one way can be worked back the other way without unclamping and repositioning the wheel — useful on run-flats, which the listing states are certified for this machine by all major tire manufacturers. Air or electric, and what actually changes The A9824TI is offered with either an air motor or an electric motor, and the choice is a shop-infrastructure decision more than a performance one. The electric version comes standard with two forward speeds and one reverse on the table top, which gives a slow setting for the moment the bead is being levered over the flange and a faster one for the routine part of the cycle. The air version draws on compressed air you already have. Turntable rotation torque is quoted at 737 ft-lb and table top rotation speed at 11 rpm on the specification table below. Whichever motor you choose, the working parts are built to be opened up. The cylinders are stainless steel and rebuildable, and the turntable is heavy-duty stainless steel. In a busy tire bay the realistic failure mode is a seal, not a casting — and a rebuildable cylinder means a seal kit and an afternoon rather than a replacement assembly and a week of downtime. A built-in table inflator with jets in the jaws seats beads without a separate inflation station, and a bead-pressing lever and a swing-away upper arm assembly keep the working area clear. Will It Fit? The machine measures 78" H x 48" W x 42" D at its maximum and weighs 503 lbs. Allow working room on all sides of that footprint — a tire changer with a swing arm needs clearance for the arm to swing, not just for the cabinet. Power is listed as 110 V / 1PH / 50 Hz and the air requirement as 130 psi. Two things are your responsibility before the machine arrives: a compressor that can genuinely hold 130 psi at the machine's inlet under load, not just at the tank, and a dedicated single-phase circuit. Because the listed frequency of 50 Hz is unusual for a North American supply, confirm the motor option and the electrical specification with us against your own building before you order. We would rather answer that question once than have you take delivery of a 503 lb machine you cannot power. Clamping range, and which number applies to your wheels Two clamping methods are quoted, and they are not interchangeable. External clamping, where the jaws grip the outside edge of the rim, covers 10-24" (254-610 mm) and is the standard approach for most passenger and light truck wheels. Internal clamping, where the jaws expand inside the barrel, covers 13-26" (330-660 mm) and is how you reach the larger diameters. With adapters, the external range is listed as 8-28" (203-711 mm). Maximum tire diameter is 47" (1,194 mm) and maximum rim width is 14" (356 mm). If the wheels you service sit close to any of those limits, check the exact fitment with us first — the adapters that extend the external range are listed on the specification sheet, and you should confirm whether they are supplied with the motor option you choose rather than assuming. Perfect For Independent repair shops adding tire service without a dedicated tire bay — the built-in inflator removes a second station. Tire specialists running volume, where the rim-avoiding head and rebuildable cylinders decide the cost of ownership. Dealership service lanes handling alloy wheels on customer cars, where a scratched rim is a warranty conversation. Fleet and municipal shops with a mix of passenger and light truck sizes across the quoted clamping range. What's in the Box The listing states the machine ships with the built-in table inflator with jets in the jaws, the locking handle, the bead-pressing lever and the swing-away upper arm assembly, with your choice of air or electric motor. It does not state which adapters, cones or accessories are supplied — so ask us before you plan a job around the 8-28" with-adapters range. Both are worth having, and it is worth being precise about what they are. ISO 9001 describes how the factory runs its quality-management system — it is a statement about the manufacturer, not a third-party safety listing of this individual machine, and it is not a substitute for one. The run-flat approval is a tire-manufacturer acceptance of the machine for that class of tire. If an insurer, a fleet policy or a local requirement asks you for a specific equipment listing, check that requirement against the machine's own documentation before you buy, and ask us if the paperwork is not clear. Shipping and Delivery This machine ships by LTL freight within the lower 48 states at a shipping weight of 608 lbs. Freight is quoted live at checkout for your address, so you see the real cost before you commit. You need to be able to take it off the truck — a forklift, a loading dock or a few people and a pallet jack — or arrange to collect from the carrier's terminal, which is often the easier option for a shop without a dock. Delivery to a residential address carries a residential fee, added at checkout. When the truck arrives, inspect the crate before you sign: note any damage on the bill of lading at the moment of delivery, because a signed clean BOL makes a freight claim very hard to win afterwards. Warranty No warranty term is stated in this listing. The store's claims process is set out on our warranty claims page, and we will confirm the manufacturer's coverage for this model in writing before you order if you ask. One rule applies regardless of the term: do not disassemble a component you intend to claim on. Opening a cylinder or a motor before the claim is registered will usually void it, so photograph the fault, contact us, and leave the assembly intact.
