Corghi A9222TI Swing Arm Tire Changer — Air or Electric The A9222TI is the compact member of Corghi's single-tower swing-arm line, and the reason to look at it is that shrinking the cabinet did not shrink the turntable. It carries the same 737 ft-lb of table top rotation torque as machines with a considerably larger footprint, in a body measuring 73" H x 49" W x 35" D and weighing 540 lbs. It turns that table at a deliberately unhurried 6.5 rpm — and like the rest of the family, its mount/demount head does not touch the rim during operation. Three capacities to confirm before you order Published figures for three of this machine's capacities differ, and both sources are given here so you can see exactly what to confirm: the specification table on this page, and Corghi's own description. Specification Specification table Manufacturer description Maximum tire diameter 41" (1,041 mm) 42 inches (1067 mm) External rim clamping 10-22" 11 inches to 24 inches Rim width maximum 12.5" (317.5 mm) 3.5 inches to 12.5 inches (89 mm to 318 mm) Some of it reconciles readily — 318 mm and 317.5 mm are the same measurement rounded differently, and the description's upper external figure matches the with-adapters range of 8-24" (203-610 mm) rather than the bare-jaw range, so the two may be describing different setups. The tire diameter and the clamping floor are the two worth settling. If the wheels you service sit anywhere near these limits, contact us before you order and we will confirm the figure against Corghi's own documentation. A tire changer that turns out to be an inch short is not a machine you can work around. Why a slow turntable is a feature Table top rotation speed on the A9222TI is 6.5 rpm. It is tempting to read a low number as a weak specification, but on a tire changer speed and safety pull in opposite directions. The instant that decides whether a rim gets marked or a bead gets torn is the quarter-turn where the bead is being levered over the flange, and that instant is easier to read, and easier to stop, at a low table speed. Pair that with 737 ft-lb of torque and you have a machine that is unhurried but not weak: it will not stall on a stubborn assembly, it simply will not rush through it. The bead-breaker blade works to the same philosophy. It follows the bead around the inside contour of the rim rather than hammering one spot, and the heavy-duty turntable rotates in either direction, so an obstinate bead can be worked back and forth without unclamping the wheel and starting over. The head, the handle and the cylinders The mount/demount head is designed not to contact the rim during operation, and a locking handle holds it clear of the wheel while the table turns. That removes the most common cause of cosmetic damage on alloy wheels — the tool itself — rather than relying on a wear insert and a careful operator to manage it. Underneath, the cylinders are stainless steel and rebuildable, and the turntable is heavy-duty stainless steel. This is the specification that shows up in year four rather than week one. Pneumatic cylinders fail at their seals long before anything structural gives out, and a rebuildable cylinder turns that into a seal kit and an afternoon instead of a replacement assembly and a wait. A built-in table inflator with jets in the jaws seats beads without a separate station, and a bead-pressing lever and a swing-away upper arm assembly keep the working space clear. Air or electric Both motor options are offered. The electric version comes standard with two forward speeds and one reverse table top, giving you a slow setting for the critical part of the cycle and a quicker one for the rest; the air version runs from the compressed air you already have and puts nothing extra on your electrical panel. The choice is driven by what your building already supplies rather than by what the machine can do. Will It Fit? Maximum dimensions are 73" H x 49" W x 35" D and the machine weighs 540 lbs. Allow swing clearance around that footprint, not just cabinet clearance — the upper arm assembly needs somewhere to go. Air requirement is listed as 130 psi, and your compressor needs to hold that at the machine under load, not merely show it on the tank gauge. Power is listed as 110 V / 1PH / 50 Hz. That frequency is unusual for a North American supply, so treat the electrical specification as something to confirm with us against your own building before ordering rather than something to assume. Supplying appropriate air and power, and a level floor to stand the machine on, is the customer's responsibility. Clamping, explained Internal clamping expands the jaws inside the rim barrel and is quoted at 13 inches to 25 inches (330-635 mm) — this is how you reach the larger diameters. External clamping grips the outside edge of the rim and is quoted at 10-22" (254-559 mm) on the table, with the with-adapters range given as 8-24" (203-610 mm). Read the disclosure above before you plan work around the outer ends of either range. Perfect For Small independent shops where floor space is the binding constraint and 35" of depth decides the purchase. Second-machine installations in a busy tire bay, taking overflow from a larger changer. Mobile and satellite operations working a mainstream passenger and light truck size range. Alloy-heavy workloads where the rim-avoiding head and the 6.5 rpm table matter more than cycle time. What's in the Box The listing specifies the built-in table inflator with jets in the jaws, the locking handle, the bead-pressing lever and the swing-away upper arm assembly, with the air or electric motor you select. An HTB24 helper assist arm is described as an optional accessory for stiff-bead work and is not part of the base machine. The adapters referenced in the with-adapters clamping range are not confirmed as supplied — check with us rather than assuming. Specifications Maximum tire diameter 41" (1,041 mm) per the table; see the disclosure above Maximum rim width 12.5" (317.5 mm) Rim diameter, internal 13-25" (330-635 mm) Rim diameter, external 10-22" (254-559 mm) External with adapters 8-24" (203-610 mm) Table top rotation torque 737 ft-lb Table top rotation speed 6.5 rpm Power requirement 110 V / 1PH / 50 Hz Air requirement 130 psi Dimensions, maximum 73" H x 49" W x 35" D Weight 540 lbs Certification, stated plainly No certification, approval or third-party listing is claimed for the A9222TI anywhere in its product data, and we are not going to imply one exists. That is a statement about what we can document, not an assertion that the machine lacks approvals — the manufacturer may well hold them; they simply are not on file here. If an insurer, a fleet policy or a local requirement obliges you to hold documented approval for shop equipment, ask us to obtain the manufacturer's paperwork before you commit, and verify the requirement yourself rather than taking a product page's word for it. Shipping and Delivery The A9222TI moves by LTL freight to the lower 48 states. The cost is quoted live at checkout against your own address, so nothing is estimated. Plan how the machine comes off the trailer before it arrives: a forklift or dock is easiest, and terminal pickup is a practical alternative for a shop without either. Residential addresses attract a residential fee, which is shown to you at checkout. Inspect the crate on arrival and record any damage on the bill of lading before the driver leaves — once you have signed clean, a concealed-damage claim becomes an uphill argument. Warranty This listing does not state a warranty term, so we have not printed one. Ask us and we will confirm the manufacturer's coverage for this model in writing before you order; the store's process is described on our warranty claims page. Whatever the term turns out to be, do not take a suspect component apart before the claim is registered. A stripped cylinder is a claim you have already lost — photograph it, leave it assembled, and call us. Contact us for more information on your next air or electric tire changer.
