Clinique Aromatics Elixir Eau de Parfum 45ml is a true 20th-century classic — a bold, herbaceous floral chypre created in 1971 by master perfumer Bernard Chant. Originally released as Clinique's first fragrance, it has been continuously produced ever since and remains one of the most distinctive women's scents in modern perfumery: green, dry, deeply spiced, and unmistakable from the first wear. About Clinique & Aromatics Elixir Clinique launched in 1968 as part of Estée Lauder Companies, conceived around dermatologist-led skincare. Aromatics Elixir followed three years later, designed by Bernard Chant — also responsible for Estée Lauder's Aramis and Cinnabar — as a "fragrance with character" rather than a conventionally pretty perfume. Its herbal-aldehydic opening, rich floral heart and oakmoss-incense base have made it a benchmark of the chypre family ever since. Fragrance notes Top: Chamomile, Aldehydes, Clary Sage, Coriander, Geranium, Lemon Verbena, Brazilian Rosewood, Bergamot Heart: Carnation, Rose, Ylang-Ylang, Orris Root, Jasmine, Tuberose, Orange Blossom Base: Oakmoss, Patchouli, Incense, Vetiver, Sandalwood, Musk Olfactory family: Chypre Floral | Launched: 1971 | Perfumer: Bernard Chant Who it's for Aromatics Elixir suits women who appreciate vintage-style perfumery — herbaceous, deep, and full-bodied — and want a fragrance with genuine personality rather than a soft, easy-going skin scent. It is at its best in autumn and winter, well suited to evening wear, formal occasions, and any context where presence matters more than discretion. Wearers of classics like Estée Lauder Cinnabar, Givenchy Ysatis, or YSL Opium will recognise the territory. How to wear it Aromatics Elixir is famously potent. Hold the bottle around 20 cm from the skin and use one or two sprays only on pulse points — wrists, neck, behind the ears. The fragrance softens and warms over the first hour and reveals more of its rose-and-resin heart on warm skin, so allow it time to develop before reapplying.
