Chicago Pneumatic RCP-C1330G: rated for a 1" impact, and it keeps its own battery charged Two things on this machine's spec list are worth more than the headline numbers. The first is the claim this product makes about capability: it is described as a two stage cast iron service truck compressor for demanding jobs, even a 1" impact. A one-inch impact wrench is the tool that separates a real truck compressor from a tyre-inflation machine with a big engine on it — it is a heavy, sustained air draw, and most portable units simply cannot hold it. The second is quieter and, over years of ownership, arguably more useful: a 12 Volt alternator. Not merely electric start — an alternator, which puts charge back into the battery while the engine runs. Truck-mounted equipment lives on vehicles that stand for days, and a battery that is only ever discharged is a battery that is flat on the morning you need it. This one maintains itself. Around those: a 13 HP Honda engine, a cast iron two-stage pump, a 30 Gallon horizontal tank, 23 CFM @ 100 psi, 175 psi maximum pressure, and a full 2 Year warranty this listing states covers everything on the unit. What "even a 1 inch impact" actually asks of a compressor A large impact wrench is not just a bigger version of a small one. It consumes air continuously while the trigger is held, and it wants that air at pressure — a gun starved of either drops its torque long before it stops making noise, which is how a bolt ends up "tight" and is not. Two design choices are why it can be described this way. Two-stage compression — compress, cool, compress again — supports 175 psi as a working maximum rather than a peak, and that headroom keeps the gun fed as the tank draws down. The 23 CFM @ 100 psi rating is the flow behind it, which on a mobile machine decides whether you finish the wheel or wait for the tank. If your work is genuinely heavy, tell us the tools and we will check the figures against Chicago Pneumatic's current data for this model in writing before you order. The cast iron argument, on a machine that lives outdoors Chicago Pneumatic's Iron Series compressors are built around low pump speed and heavy construction, and the result the manufacturer claims for that is long life with relatively quiet running. On a truck compressor the reasoning is stronger than it is in a workshop, because a mobile machine gets the worst of every condition. Heat has nowhere convenient to go on a service body in summer, and a cast iron pump has the mass to absorb and shed it. Vibration is constant — the machine is bolted to a vehicle that drives on real roads — and heavy castings tolerate that far better than light assemblies. Low pump speed works from the other direction: fewer cycles of heat and load per hour, and less noise made in the process, which matters on equipment running next to you while you work. Starting, charging and running it The machine has both recoil and electric start, so the pull cord is there as the backstop when a battery is low or the vehicle has stood over a holiday. With the 12 Volt alternator keeping the battery topped up during normal running, you should need the recoil far less often than on equipment without one. Petrol drive brings one absolute rule with it: run it in open air. An engine-driven compressor must never be operated inside a closed body, a garage or any enclosed space, and it needs clearance for cooling air and exhaust. Fuel, oil and routine servicing are the owner's job, and they protect the warranty as much as the equipment. Will It Fit? Mounting, weight and services Making sure the unit fits the vehicle — and that the vehicle can legally and safely carry it — is the buyer's responsibility. Overall length: 45" in our data. Width and height are held as bare numbers with no unit attached, so we have not printed them; a number without a unit is not a measurement. If you are fitting this into a defined space on a body, ask us and we will confirm the dimensioned drawing first. Weight: 501 lbs. Check the payload you have left after tools and stock, and mount it to the body properly. A heavy compressor that moves on a vehicle in motion is a safety failure, not a nuisance. Battery: a 12 Volt battery is required for electric start; the alternator maintains it once the engine is running. Recoil start does not need one. Tank: 30 Gallon, horizontal — the layout that sits low and stable on a deck rather than standing tall on a moving vehicle. Tank outlet: 3/4". Match the hose and fittings you already carry. Perfect For Mobile heavy-vehicle work — the one-inch impact case this machine is described for. Service trucks and mobile mechanics who need workshop-grade air away from a building. Fleet, agricultural and plant maintenance, where the equipment goes to the breakdown. Recovery and roadside operators whose compressor sits unused for days and must start when it is wanted. What's in the Box The compressor as a complete engine-driven unit: 13 HP Honda engine, two-stage cast iron pump, 30 Gallon horizontal tank, recoil and electric start, and the 12 Volt alternator. Not supplied: the battery, fuel, mounting hardware for your particular vehicle, air hose, and any downstream filtration or drying. We list only what this product's own data states is included — if your order depends on an accessory being in the crate, ask us to confirm it in writing before you buy rather than after it lands. Certification, stated plainly We are not going to badge this machine with initials its own data does not carry. This product's specification does not claim a third-party safety listing for the packaged unit, and nothing here should be read as one. That distinction is worth checking against your own obligations. Some fleet policies, some insurers and some site standards ask for specific documentation before equipment is carried on a commercial vehicle or brought onto a controlled site, and a manufacturer's specification is not the same document as an independent listing. If a requirement of that kind applies to you, ask us before ordering and we will establish in writing what paperwork this model can actually supply — including the tank documentation, which is the item most often requested. Shipping and delivery This compressor ships as palletised freight within the lower 48 states. This item ships free, so there is nothing to add at checkout. Decide how it comes off the truck before you order. 501 lbs on a pallet needs a forklift, a dock, or a pallet jack on level ground — the driver's responsibility ends at the tailboard. Terminal pickup is a sensible option here: if you are buying a truck-mount compressor you probably have the vehicle to collect it. Delivery to a home address is a residential delivery and carries a residential fee. Inspect it before signing. With the driver still there, look over the engine, pump, tank and fittings and write any damage or shortage onto the bill of lading before your signature goes on it. Damage recorded at handover is claimable; damage found after a clean signature very rarely is. Warranty A full 2 Year warranty applies, which this product's listing states covers everything on the unit. Chicago Pneumatic's own description of the Iron Series makes the same point — the cover is included rather than sold as an add-on with conditions attached. Keep the routine and it stays straightforward: correct oil, clean fuel, guards in place, and the tank drained. If a fault develops, stop the machine and speak to us before anything is opened. Once a pump or engine has been dismantled, establishing what failed first becomes impossible, and that is the single question a warranty claim turns on. Photograph the fault as you found it and leave the unit assembled.
