Chicago Pneumatic QRS7.5HP-3: one rotary screw, wired for either three-phase supply in the building The useful thing about this variant is on its nameplate rather than in its marketing. The motor is specified 208-230/460V, 3 Phase — a dual-voltage winding. A building on the higher three-phase band and a building on the lower one order the same machine, and the decision is made by the electrician at connection rather than by the purchase order. If you are equipping a second site, moving premises, or buying ahead of an electrical upgrade, that is one fewer irreversible choice to get right months in advance. Underneath it, the QRS package: an oil-injected rotary screw airend on a 60 Gallon horizontal receiver, rated 100% duty, running at 64 dBA, delivering 21.2 CFM at 150 psi. Chicago Pneumatic builds its rotary screws in Italy through Atlas Copco, which this listing describes as the world's largest air compressor manufacturer. Two things to confirm before you order Published figures differ on both, and both change what you receive and what it costs to install, so each is set out here with its source. Is a dryer fitted? The feature list on this product says Dryer Included. A separate specification field on the same product records the air dryer as not fitted. Those cannot both be true, and the answer is worth real money: an integrated refrigerated dryer is a substantial part of the machine's value, and if it is absent you need downstream drying before you spray anything or feed air-driven instrumentation. What is the maximum pressure? The feature list states 150 psi maximum. A specification field on the same product instead records 145 PSI. The gap is small, but it is exactly the sort of number that gets designed into a system and then argued about later. On both points: ask us before you order and we will confirm the configuration of the actual unit against the current manufacturer data sheet, in writing. Both figures stand as published until the factory sheet settles them. Three-phase, and what it buys beyond availability A three-phase motor delivers power in overlapping cycles rather than the pulsing single phase gives you, so torque arrives smoothly, starting current is easier on the supply, and the motor runs cooler for the same shaft output. On a machine expected to run continuously, cooler is the operative word — heat is what ages windings and insulation. That pairs with the 100% duty rating in a way that is easy to under-read. This compressor is not rated for a percentage of the hour; it is designed to run for as long as the shop is pulling air, at full output, without that shortening its life. A busy afternoon does not become a queue for pressure. The other half of the argument is noise. At 64 dBA the machine can stand inside the working space instead of being pushed into an outbuilding for peace, and the shorter the pipe run from receiver to tool, the less pressure you give away getting there. Will It Fit? Power, space and siting Confirming the supply, the floor and the ventilation before ordering is the buyer's responsibility. Take the first line to your electrician early — it is the one thing that cannot be improvised on delivery day. Electrical supply: 208-230/460V, 3 Phase. If your building is single-phase only, this is the wrong variant and no amount of wiring cleverness fixes that. Conductor size and breaker rating depend on which voltage you connect and on the length of the run, and both are your electrician's call. Tank: 60 Gallon, horizontal — low, wall-huggable, and easy to site under a mezzanine or a low garage ceiling. Footprint: overall length 75". Overall width and height sit in our data as bare numbers with no unit, and a number without a unit is not a measurement, so we have not printed them. Ask us if the footprint is what decides the installation. Weight: 441 lbs, which wants a level, solid pad rather than a shimmed corner. Tank outlet: 1/2" — size your shop pipework from that figure. Ventilation: the machine rejects the heat it generates. A closed compressor room needs a way for warm air to leave, or the enclosure simply recirculates it. Perfect For Buildings with three-phase power, on either voltage band — including sites that are mid-upgrade. Multi-bay service shops where several air tools are in use at once for hours at a time. Light industrial and manufacturing duty, which is the band the QRS line is built for. Multi-site operators who would rather stock one model than two voltage variants. What's in the Box The compressor as a package: rotary screw airend and drive motor mounted on the 60 Gallon horizontal receiver, with its control gear, ready for supply connection and shop pipework. The dryer is the open question above, and until it is confirmed you should not budget as though one is included. Also not supplied: the electrical installation and circuit, downstream filtration, pipework from the 1/2" outlet, and the factory authorized start-up covered under Warranty. If anything in your order depends on an item being in the crate, get it from us in writing first. Water left standing in a receiver is the usual reason a good tank does not reach its second decade. Approvals, stated plainly We would rather describe this machine's documentation position than decorate it with initials the data does not support. This product's data does not claim a third-party safety listing for the packaged compressor, and we are not going to write one onto the page. What exists is the manufacturer's own specification and its factory commissioning programme. For most buyers that is a non-issue. For a few it decides the purchase: insurers, fleet standards and some local inspectors ask for independent listing documents on hard-wired plant, and a maker's declaration is a different piece of paper. If your site works to a requirement like that, ask us first and we will confirm in writing exactly what documentation ships with this model. Shipping and delivery The compressor moves as palletised freight to the lower 48 states, free of charge. Plan the unload before you buy. At 441 lbs this is forklift or dock work, or a pallet jack on level ground; the carrier's obligation stops at the back of the trailer. Without equipment on site, choose terminal pickup and collect it yourself. Delivery to a home address is a residential delivery and attracts a residential fee. Check it over before signing. Walk round the pallet with the driver present, look at the enclosure, receiver, panel and fittings, and write any damage or missing item onto the bill of lading before you sign. That note is what makes a claim possible; a clean signature says it arrived intact. Warranty Standard cover is 1 year. A 5 Year term is available instead where the machine is commissioned by a factory authorized start-up, and this listing puts a typical fee of $350 on that visit. Read that fee as an indication rather than a price: it is described as typical, and it is charged by whoever performs the commissioning, not by us — so get a current quotation before you count on it. The start-up is also worth buying on its own terms. Rotation direction, oil level and control settings verified by someone who does it weekly is cheap insurance on a machine you intend to run continuously for years. If something goes wrong, shut the compressor down, isolate it and speak to us before any part of it is opened. A dismantled airend cannot be assessed, and a claim on one is close to unarguable. Photograph the fault as you found it.
