Champion LV04PURHS-8 5 HP Rotary Vane Air Compressor, 80 Gallon Horizontal The number that changes how you buy this machine is 410 lbs. An 80 gallon shop compressor is normally a rigging job: a forklift at both ends, a crew, and a spot you commit to because moving it later is a project. At 410 lbs on a 65 inch horizontal package, this one is inside the range of ordinary shop equipment. A pallet truck and a level floor will do it, and if the layout changes in two years you can move it rather than live with it. It is a Champion rotary vane unit: cast iron airend, TEFC motor, direct drive at 1760 RPM, rated 5 HP with a working pressure of 100 PSI, 3 ppm oil carryover and high temperature safety shutdown protection as standard. Why the weight is a feature and not a compromise Weight in a compressor mostly comes from two places: the receiver and the pump assembly. This machine keeps the full 80 gallon receiver, so nothing has been given up on stored air. What it does not carry is the mass of a large reciprocating pump, a flywheel and a belt drive, because the vane airend is compact and bolts straight to the motor. That has consequences beyond the delivery day. A lighter machine transmits less into the slab and is easier to isolate. It is easier to get through a standard door on a pallet truck. It does not require you to pour or reinforce anything before it arrives. And when a shop reorganises, which every shop does, the compressor stops being the fixed point everything else has to work around. Continuous delivery, and two figures the store holds for it A vane airend produces air continuously rather than in pulses, with a rotor turning inside a cast iron housing and the vanes riding out against the bore. Direct drive removes the belt entirely: nothing to tension, glaze, align or replace. Turning at 1760 RPM keeps noise and wear down. On air delivery, our data holds two figures and we will show you both rather than pick the flattering one. The headline field records 20 CFM. A more detailed field records 19.5 CFM at 100 PSI. Those are the same measurement to a rounding, not a disagreement, but if you are sizing pipework or deciding whether a particular tool list is inside the machine's capability, use the conservative figure of 19.5 CFM and ask us to confirm it against the factory data sheet. Oil carryover is quoted at 3 ppm, measured with the CS300 vane diester lubricant the airend is factory filled with. That figure is what makes a vane machine worth the money in a finishing room, a packaging line or anywhere air touches the product, because every part per million you do not have to filter out is a coalescing stage you do not have to buy and maintain. Will it fit, and what does it need? Allow for a package roughly 65 inches long weighing about 410 lbs. It is a horizontal machine, so it wants wall length rather than ceiling height, and it should sit on a solid, level floor. Leave clear air around the TEFC motor and the airend so the frame can shed heat properly, rather than pushing it flat against the wall. The receiver has a 3/4 inch outlet for the shop main. There is no integrated air dryer and no electronic drain valve on this machine, so if you want dry air at the tool, budget a dryer and a drain separately. Confirm the power supply before you order. The description offers 208-230/460 Volt 3 phase, but a separate spec field on the same product reads single phase. Those are different machines and different building supplies. We will not guess which one applies to your order, so ask us to confirm phase and voltage against the exact build, and have your electrician confirm what the building provides. A phase mismatch means the machine goes back on a truck. Overall width and overall height are recorded in our data without units, so they are not printed here. If clearance is tight, ask and we will read them from the factory drawing. Perfect for Shops that expect to move things, where a compressor you can reposition is worth more than one you cannot. Upstairs and awkward-access premises where the weight of the machine decides whether it can be installed at all. Small body shops and finishing rooms that want the oil carryover of a vane machine at the smaller end of the range. Workshops attached to occupied buildings, where slow, belt-free, pulse-free running keeps the peace. That is a statement about our records rather than about the machine, and it is a more useful thing to be told than a badge nobody checked. Where an insurer, a local inspector or a workplace safety audit requires a specific listing or stamp, name it and we will confirm it against the factory paperwork before you order. Shipping and delivery Freight only, within the contiguous United States. Even at 410 lbs this is a palletised freight shipment rather than a parcel, and the freight cost is quoted live at checkout against the address you enter instead of being averaged nationally. Unloading is the customer's responsibility. A forklift is the straightforward answer, and terminal pickup is the alternative if you would rather collect it with your own equipment. Deliveries to residential addresses carry a residential fee, which the checkout quote shows before you pay. Look the pallet over before you sign: torn wrap, a bent foot, a damaged motor fan cover or fluid on the trailer deck all go on the bill of lading in writing, with photographs attached. Once signed clean, the carrier's position is that everything arrived intact. Warranty and support Warranty terms and the claim process are on our warranty claims page. Keep the machine assembled until a claim is open. An airend or starter panel that has already been taken apart is the most common reason a valid claim is refused, so report the fault, let it be documented and take instruction first.
