Champion HR7D-12 Two-Stage Reciprocating Air Compressor Most shop compressors come one way: plug it into the wall. The HR7D-12 pump belongs to a Champion family that is built both ways, and the giveaway is the option list. Alongside the vibration isolators you would expect, the factory offers an electric fuel pump, a canvas cover for engine driven models, and standalone fuel tanks in 9 gallon or 5 gallon capacities. Nobody offers a fuel tank for a machine that only ever runs off mains power. That matters if your work moves. A pump family with a proven engine driven configuration is one you can specify for a yard, a remote site, a mobile rig or a building with no suitable electrical service, and still buy the same two stage pump, the same bearings and the same spares. Underneath the configuration question it is a heavy duty two stage, splash lubricated reciprocating pump rated 7.5 HP on a 120 gallon horizontal receiver. Read this before you order. The specification data attached to this listing describes an electric unit: a magnetic starter is included, and the voltage field lists both single phase and three phase supplies. So while the option list is for the wider family, what ships against this listing is configured as an electrically driven machine unless you tell us otherwise. If you want the engine driven build, or you want to add the fuel pump, cover or a standalone tank, ask us to confirm availability and part numbers in writing before you place the order. We would rather have that conversation now than after a freight shipment. Two stage compression and cooling between stages Compressing air in one go makes it hot, and hot air carries moisture and thins the oil film that keeps the pump alive. This pump does the job in two bites. Air is partly compressed in the first cylinder, passed through a finned intercooler to shed heat, then finished in a smaller second cylinder. You get cooler discharge air, less water carried into the receiver, and a pump that is not fighting its own heat all day. The supporting detail is where the pump earns its keep. Multi-finned cylinders and an integral cylinder head move heat outward instead of storing it. High flow disc valves let the cylinders breathe rather than throttling themselves at the top of the range. Oversized main bearings and a balanced crankshaft keep the rotating assembly settled when the machine is loaded, which is the difference between a compressor you can hold a conversation next to and one you cannot. An oil level sight glass sits where a person can actually see it, and a centrifugal unloader vents the pump at rest so the motor starts against no load. Will it fit, and what does it need? Plan for a machine about 83 inches long weighing roughly 1,305 lbs. That is a two person plus forklift job, not a trolley job, and the floor under it should be solid and level rather than merely flat. Give the flywheel, belt guard and intercooler clear air on all sides: a reciprocating pump backed into a corner ends up breathing its own exhaust heat, which shortens valve and ring life. The receiver has a 3/4 inch service outlet for tying into the shop main, and the 120 gallon capacity means the pump can rest between demands rather than short-cycling. On power, the record for this unit lists both single phase and three phase supplies, so tell us which one your building has and we will confirm the correct build. A magnetic starter is included. There is no integrated air dryer and no electronic drain valve on this machine, so if you need dry air at the tool, budget for a dryer and a drain as separate items rather than assuming they are in the crate. Perfect for Independent service shops wanting a large receiver and a long-lived two stage pump rather than the lowest sticker on the floor. Fleet yards and agricultural workshops where the option of an engine driven configuration in the same pump family is worth having. Fabrication and welding shops running plasma, grinders and blast equipment with sustained rather than occasional demand. Buildings with awkward electrical service, where single phase or three phase both need to be on the table. What is included Heavy duty two stage, splash lubricated compressor pump 120 gallon horizontal air receiver Multi-finned cylinders with integral cylinder head and inter-stage intercooler High flow disc valves, oversized main bearings, balanced crankshaft Oil level sight glass and centrifugal unloader for loadless starting Magnetic starter Options offered on this pump family Electric fuel pump Canvas cover, for engine driven models Heavy duty vibration isolators 9 gallon standalone fuel tank 5 gallon standalone fuel tank None of the above is included as standard. Ask us to price and confirm any of them against the build you are ordering. Specifications Model HR7D-12 Motor 7.5 HP Pump Two stage, splash lubricated, reciprocating Tank 120 gallon, horizontal Tank outlet 3/4 inch Supply Single phase or three phase (confirm before ordering) Overall length 83 inches Weight 1,305 lbs Magnetic starter Included Integrated air dryer Not fitted Electronic drain valve Not fitted Figures we have deliberately not printed Three specifications a buyer would reasonably expect here are recorded in our data without a unit attached to them, or are contradicted by another field on the same product: the maximum working pressure, the air delivery figure, and the pump speed. A pressure or a delivery rating quoted without its unit is not a fact, it is a number, and putting it on a page for a machine at this price is how a buyer ends up sizing a system around something we made up. Ask us for those three figures and we will read them off the factory data sheet for the exact model rather than off this listing. The same applies to the overall width and height. Certification, stated honestly Our product record for the HR7D-12 does not carry a third-party safety listing or a pressure vessel code stamp. That is a statement about what our data contains, not a claim about what the machine is or is not. If an insurer, an inspector or a workplace safety audit requires a specific listing or stamp on the receiver, tell us which one and we will verify it against the factory documentation before you commit rather than after the crate lands. Shipping and delivery This ships by freight truck inside the contiguous United States. At about 1,305 lbs crated it is well beyond parcel service, and it ships free of charge. Two practicalities. First, unloading is the customer's responsibility: have a forklift with headroom over the shipping weight standing by, or take terminal pickup and collect it yourself. Second, a delivery to a residential address carries a residential fee, which the quote at checkout will show you before you pay. When the driver arrives, inspect the pallet before signing. Bent tank feet, a cracked belt guard, torn shrink wrap and oil on the deck are the things to look for, and anything you find goes on the bill of lading in writing, with photographs. A clean signature is treated as confirmation the machine arrived intact. Warranty and support Terms and the claim process are on our warranty claims page. Do not pull the head, the valves or the starter to investigate a fault before a claim is opened; a disassembled component is the fastest way to have a legitimate claim declined. Report it, let it be documented, and take instruction first. For build confirmation, options pricing or the specifications we have withheld above, call, text or chat with us on 866-774-7743.
