Challenger RJ9S Rolling Jack, 9,000 lbs., 34 in. to 42 in. Everything about buying a rolling jack comes down to one measurement, and the RJ9S publishes it: the frame adjusts from 34 in. to 42 in. That is the span between your four-post lift's runways that this unit can straddle, and it is the first thing to check - before capacity, before price, before anything. Rated load is 9,000 lbs. and it works on air over hydraulics. Take a tape measure to your lift now. Measure inside edge to inside edge of the runways, then measure the rail centres. If your spacing falls inside that 34 in. to 42 in. window the RJ9S fits your lift; if it does not, no amount of adapters will make it work and you should talk to us instead of ordering. Reading the span figure properly A range that runs from 34 in. to 42 in. is not one size with slack in it. It is an adjustment you set once during fitting to match your particular lift, and then leave alone. The reason the range exists at all is that four-post lifts are not built to a common runway spacing - a lift specified for narrow-track cars and one specified for dual-rear-wheel pickups put their runways in different places, and an accessory that only fitted one of them would be an accessory almost nobody could use. Where people get caught is assuming that because a jack is made by the same manufacturer as the lift, it must fit. Model ranges change over years. Confirm the number rather than the badge. Why the jack earns its place on a four-post lift A four-post lift holds a vehicle by its tyres. That is excellent for storage, inspection, exhaust work and anything under the middle of the car - and useless the moment a wheel has to come off. Without a jack on the lift, wheels-off work on a four-post means crawling under a raised vehicle with a bottle jack and finding a jacking point by feel. The RJ9S removes that step. It travels along the lift's accessory rails to whichever axle you want, lifts from a proper cradle with adapters that reach the vehicle's designed pick-up points, and puts the wheels in the air while the vehicle stays on the lift. Brake service, tyre rotation, hub and bearing work and suspension jobs all become bench-height work instead of floor work. Two hands, by design The RJ9S requires two-hand operation to lift. Both hands occupied means neither hand is under a load that is moving, and it also means the operator is standing in one predictable place while the vehicle rises. That is not a convenience feature that got in the way of itself - it is the specific control design that prevents the specific accident where somebody steadies a pad with one hand while raising with the other. Low profile, so it stays on the lift Adjustable heights and a low-profile build keep the jack out of the way when it is idle. That sounds cosmetic and is not: an accessory that fouls the drive-on path gets clipped by tyres, gets in the way of every vehicle that uses the lift, and ends up unbolted and parked in a corner. A jack that stows below the working envelope stays where it can be used, which is the only place it is worth anything. One or two? A single RJ9S frees one axle. Two of them free the whole vehicle, which is what turns a four-wheel tyre change or a full brake service into one operation rather than two. Most shops fit a pair for that reason. Starting with one is a legitimate way to spread the cost - just decide it deliberately, because the limitation shows up on the first job that needs all four wheels off at once. Perfect For Tyre shops running four-post lifts where every job is wheels-off. Brake and suspension specialists who need the axle free and the vehicle stable. Fleet workshops on scheduled wheel and brake service. Home and collector garages with a four-post lift that currently only stores cars. What's in the Box One RJ9S air/hydraulic rolling jack, part reference 44018 Adapters for reaching vehicle pick-up points Supplied singly - order two if you want a pair. Anything beyond the adapters listed here is a separate item, so tell us what you are fitting it to and we will confirm what you need. Before you order, confirm these Runway spacing against the 34 in. to 42 in. adjustment range. Accessory rails on your four-post lift - the jack rides on them and a lift without them cannot take one. Air supply reaching the lift, since this is an air-over-hydraulic unit and shop air does the work. Send us the make and model of your lift with the measurement and we will check all three in one reply. Certification and safety listings, honestly No independent North American safety listing for this accessory is recorded in our product data, and we would rather say that than let silence imply one. It is rarely raised for a lifting accessory. It is raised where an insurer, a franchise agreement or a public-sector supply contract specifies equipment carrying a recognised third-party listing, and some of those specifications reach past the lift itself to what is bolted to it. If yours might, get the wording in writing and ask us before you commit. Shipping and Delivery This ships as freight in the lower 48 states, and it is dense for its size - work out in advance how it comes off the truck. A forklift or dock is the easy answer; terminal pickup is the other, and warehouse collection is available too. Residential delivery is offered for a fee. Carrier rates change constantly, so freight is priced live at checkout rather than quoted in this description. Look it over before you sign anything. Check the cylinder, the frame and the control assembly for impact marks, make sure the adapters are actually in the crate, and put any concern on the bill of lading while the driver is still standing next to it. Warranty Our warranty claims page sets out the terms and how to raise a claim. We have not printed a coverage period because the product record for this jack contains a link and no term, and a warranty length is not a thing to approximate - ask and we will confirm it. Do not take it apart if it fails. A hydraulic assembly that has been opened cannot be assessed, and that step is what turns a straightforward claim into a long argument. Photograph the fault, write down what it was doing and what air pressure was on the line, and leave it as it is until you have spoken to us.
