Challenger Lifts RJ7.5 Rolling Jack — 7,500 lbs of capacity where it counts Capacity on a rolling jack is not the same question as capacity on a lift, and it is the question most buyers get wrong. Your four-post holds the whole vehicle; the jack only ever holds one end of it. But that end can be a great deal heavier than a simple halving suggests — a diesel pickup carries most of its weight over the front axle, and a loaded van or a service vehicle is heavier still. The RJ7.5 is rated at 7,500 lbs, and that headroom is the entire reason to choose it over a lighter rolling jack. Mechanically it is an air-over-hydraulic jack that runs on the accessory rail built into a four-post lift's runways, with an extendable width and adapters for reaching designated vehicle pick-up points. Why a four-post owner ends up needing one Four-post lifts hold a vehicle by its tyres. Excellent for storage, excellent for inspection, and no help at all the moment a wheel has to come off. The improvised answer — a bottle jack perched on a runway, packed up with whatever is to hand — is slow, unstable and being performed at chest height on a vehicle that is already off the ground. A rolling jack replaces that with a designed solution. It rolls to where you need it along the runway rail, raises one axle clear of the runway, and holds the vehicle there while the wheels come off. Wheel, brake, hub and suspension work all become straightforward on a lift that could not previously do any of them. Rated for the heavy end of the fleet Choosing 7,500 lbs rather than a lighter jack matters in three situations, and they are common ones. Full-size pickups and heavy-duty trucks carry a front-axle load that surprises people the first time they weigh one. Work vans and service vehicles are frequently lifted loaded, because unloading a van of tools to change a brake pad is nobody's idea of a good afternoon. And an equipment purchase that is comfortably inside its rating rather than at the edge of it tends to have an easier life — the same job, less strain, less drama. If your work is passenger cars, a lighter rolling jack from the same family will serve you and cost less. If there is a truck or a van anywhere in your week, the extra capacity here is the sensible purchase. Air over hydraulic — and what that requires of your shop This jack runs on shop air driving a hydraulic pump. There is no hand-pumping, no motor and no electrical connection travelling along the runway. It is quick, it is smooth and there is nothing to trail. It does, however, mean an air supply is not optional. This deserves saying plainly because it is a common surprise: a number of four-post lifts, including Challenger's own home storage range, are specified to run without compressed air, and buyers reasonably conclude no compressor is needed. Adding a rolling jack reintroduces that requirement. Factor a compressor and a line to the lift into the budget if you do not already have one. Extendable width, adapters, low profile The width of this jack extends, which sounds minor and is not. Vehicles differ enormously in track width and in where the manufacturer permits lifting. A jack that cannot be adjusted to the vehicle will eventually be positioned somewhere convenient rather than somewhere correct, and on a modern vehicle with plastic underbody trays and specified pinch-weld points that is how expensive damage happens. Adjustment plus the supplied adapters is what keeps the saddle on a designated pick-up point. The jack also sits low with adjustable heights, so when it is parked on the rail and not in use it stays out of the way of whatever you are doing underneath the vehicle. Operation is two-handed by design, which keeps both of a technician's hands on the controls and neither of them near the load while it is moving. Before you order: two checks The rail. This jack mounts to the accessory rail system in a four-post lift's runways. Send us your lift's model number and we will confirm this is the right jack for it before you commit. The air. A compressor and a line reaching the lift. Without one, the jack does not operate. Challenger's own material describes installing a pair of rolling jacks — one for each axle — so decide up front whether you are buying one or two, because coming back for the second one later means a second freight shipment. Perfect For Shops working on trucks and vans, where axle loads run high. Fleet and service workshops lifting loaded vehicles as a matter of routine. Four-post owners doing real service work, not just storage. Anyone who wants margin rather than a jack working at the top of its rating. What's in the Box The RJ7.5 rolling jack with its air/hydraulic system, extendable-width frame and the adapters Challenger provides for reaching vehicle pick-up points. These are commonly bought in pairs but sold individually — check the quantity on your order before you place it. If your installation depends on a particular adapter or rail component, ask us to confirm it is included in writing. Specifications Specification RJ7.5 Capacity 7,500 lbs Operation Air over hydraulic Controls Two-hand use Width Extendable / adjustable Height Adjustable, low profile Mounting Four-post lift accessory rail Adapters Supplied, for vehicle pick-up points No dimensions, saddle heights or product weight are published in the data we hold for this jack, so none appear above. A short table that is accurate is more use to you than a full one that is invented. Ask us if a specific measurement decides your purchase and we will obtain it from the manufacturer. Certification, stated honestly The data we hold for the RJ7.5 does not record an independent third-party safety listing for this jack. We are not going to imply one where none is claimed — other products in our catalogue do carry that documentation and we say so on their pages. Why it can matter: an independent listing means a separate testing body has assessed equipment against a published standard, and certain insurers, fleet contracts and local jurisdictions require that specifically for lifting equipment. If any of those govern your workshop, raise it with us before ordering and we will establish the current position for this product in writing. If none do, this is not a reason to avoid the jack — it is simply a decision you should be making with the facts rather than an assumption. Shipping and delivery Shipped as freight to the lower 48 states, priced live at checkout against your delivery address. Plan the unload before the truck arrives — this is dense, heavy equipment rather than a parcel. Either have the means to take it off the vehicle or opt to collect it from the carrier's local terminal. A residential delivery address carries a residential fee. Check it before signing. Inspect the shipment with the driver still on site and record any damage or shortage on the bill of lading before you sign. Signing clean means you have confirmed the goods arrived intact, and reversing that later is an uphill argument. Warranty Cover is under Challenger's published warranty terms; our claim process is set out at mechanicsuperstore.com/pages/warranty-claims. We have not stated a duration on this page because the data we hold for the RJ7.5 does not give one — ask us and we will confirm the current term in writing before you order. If a fault develops, stop using the jack and speak to us before opening it up. Hydraulic components that have already been dismantled are the hardest of all to claim on, and photographs of the fault as you found it will do more for your claim than anything written afterwards.
